The Birth, Death and Resurrection....After several years of stagnancy and hibernation, the spark of inspiration has awakened Forever Escaping Boredom to continue forward into a new epoch of strife and tumult. The wheels of Forever Escaping Boredom Records began turning sometime in the dying days of December 1997, when my partner and I were attending the Gainesville Fest. I had always thought about starting a record label and this fest just happen to serve as the necessary impetus to put my ideas into motion. During the course of events, sandwiched between two moshcore bands, was an acoustic artist who captivated the rowdy crowd with his morose campfire tunes. His name was Keith Welsh. After his set I made a rather spontaneous decision to approach him and asked if I could put out a 7 of his music. He said sure and thus begun this long journey.**************************************************** ***************Sometime during the subsequent months I placed an ad in Heart Attack looking for stuff from the band Frail. The fellow who answered me, Tanner, was involved in a band from Sioux Falls called Copropraxia. I asked for a demo, which he promptly sent, and upon listening was completely floored by their sound. The plan then became to put out their 7, but the untimely demise of this amazing band shelved the project indefinitely. I had kept in contact with Tanner and learned he had formed a new band called, The Spirit of Versailles. After hearing the demo, it was clear that I wanted to do a 7" with this band and shortly afterwards, In Line for Halos, became FEB records second release. The Spirit of Versailles were a non-typical straightedge band, who played with the same passion as many of the great emo hardcore bands that came out of the early/ mid-90s. Around this time, I was also working with my partner on organizing a Florida fest, which The Spirit of Versailles played at. They went on to do many great things and Im glad that I had the opportunity to see them play live a couple of times. To this day, those days remain some of my fondest memories.*************************************************** **************** A Brief Tangent... If I have anything that resembles a mission of purpose for the label it is to put out records as diverse as the punk community itself. Punk has never represented some style of music or fashion to me, its always been about community and ideas. Ive always said if the only difference between us and them is the music we listen to, then whats the point?****************************************************** *************The Departure... After two years of hope and promise, some bad decisions on my part, and a move to Chicago, my involvement with FEB eventually fell to the wayside. I always had some ideas circulating, but city life can be an exhilarating ride and playing the role of a spectator was all I wanted to do.********************************************************* **********Fast forward to now back in Florida (for a while anyway) Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida are experiencing a bit of a punk rock renaissance and this burgeoning activity has inspired me to breathe some new life into this defunct project.**************************************************** ***************Being involved in punk throughout the years, whether active or on the periphery in Sarasota, I was always dismayed by the lack of support for my local scene. So many bands came and went never leaving behind anything significant to document the seedy underbelly of the Sarasota/ Bradenton community. As an amateur historian and aspiring librarian, its my natural inclination to document things. So in a small way this is my attempt to document and support the local punk community. I hope you all will enjoy my latest offerings: a 7-song CD by KIT! and the Asthma Atttaq/ Dirty South Apocalypse split 12. Now go forth and spread the gospel.***************************************************** ************** Forever Escaping Boredom Discography:
