Storm Elves were born into some lyrics spread among school notebooks, in 1999, to achieve their first compilation release in 2007 (audiobook 3).
Tec-goblin was the only member by then, changing strange collages of noises with his friend, Alexander. These (originally created with... windows recorder) evolved to what's today the "to the death" track. As the years passed, a whole album was created on paper, a set of lyrics speaking about technology, hope, coldness, through simple allegories with fantasy settings. The introduction of tec-goblin to FL Studio brought some first tracks of danceable trance-influenced noise and EBM. The sound started to evolving to darker and more emotional soundscapes, with speak to me and legion.
By the middle of 2005, a first full-length demo was ready. Tec-goblin contacted his internet buddy DigitalSadness and great old friend Sonya to record lyrics. Nienor/Kiara helped with this funny recording of the first demo, which brought us for the first time the feeling of a group. These moments gave birth to "elves", a track which was really a turning point for the group, getting the style out of "pattern" music. The lyrics had been greatly improved with "Tears on my armour" and the group was feeling it could advance into different styles.
But a lot had (and still has) to be done with 50 litres' production. A lot of re-recordings, remasterings and remixes has been done through the next year, including some remixes for Ayria and Nouvelle Culture (which you can also find in MySpace).
Near the spring of 2006, tec-goblin remixed "this house", a track by an old friend, Nihilio (under the name of Black Midnight), which gave one of the best moments of both groups. Nihilio soon was invited to join Storm Elves, bringing in with him a lot of new sounds and half-done tracks, as well as a well-needed taste for simplicity.
Right now, the group is progressing to the second album (with the working title of "Poésie Numerique"), with deeper lyrics, more complex melodies and a mood which swings between progressively evolving noise industrial tracks and slower darkwave soundscapes full of noises and ethereal vocals.
At the same time, the group is open to any advice and collaboration with other artists and producers, because we will never stop to learn new things.
Most members of the group are also members of www.postwave.gr and tec-goblin is an active reviewer there.
