About Me

My philosophy is to make the most out of life, whilst making plenty of time for those that are important to me and having as many good times along the way as possible.
I firmly believe you should do whatever you like in this life provided you don't harm others (including our planet) and do minimal harm to yourself! I'm on a quest to understand a lot more about myself and this rather odd place we call home, rather than just floating along like a zombie, which seems all too easy. Someone once told me that the best way to predict the future is to invent it, I've decided to give that strategy a go...
Favourite things... sea, laughing, mountains, Indian food, world cinema, heated debates over too many ales, art, music, architecture, friendship, hiking, reading, sailing, climbing, camping…
Favourite places... India, Devon, Wykeham Arms, Railway Inn, Tate Modern, Budapest, The Glade festival, Mongolia, The Black Boy (to avoid confusion, it's a pub!), Isle of Purbeck (Dorset), Winchester, Somerset House (London), Glastonbury festival, Manchester, Lake District, Germany...
Random facts... I'm a Greenpeace activist specialising in decentralised energy, a freelance IT consultant, I live with two good friends in a cottage near Winchester.

My Interests

I’m passionate about travelling. Favourite places to date... India, Mongolia, Peru and Britain (that's right I said Britain!).

I rock climb, mountain bike, hike and sail.

I have a small boat and for me there’s not much that beats drifting around the Solent on a sunny day.

I'm not into football but enjoy watching rugby.

Laughing.. as much as possible.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who enjoys sailing, climbing, hiking, travelling, art, world cinema, similar musical taste, in fact anything to do with travelling and adventure or has strong opinions about something valuable. Oh and anybody who values our environment and wants to do something about the mess we're in!

A slick future for the oil industry?

Doubtful. The main focus from a climate control perspective is on two of the three energy sectors, electricity and heating (natural gas primarily), accounting for two thirds of emissions.  The...

My journey to Udaipur via Ahmadabad went without a hitch, with the exception of a blow out on the government bus from Auragabad to Jalgoan. We drove for some 30KM metal on road which was a bit hair-ra...
