Raised on a diet of hip hop, rock and metal it was inevitable that Mat Wells aka Cynic would eventually discover the pace and excitement of drum n bass. Cynic started Djing in 1999 and was soon playing at university parties as well as running his own nights. In 2001 Cynic started producing as a hobby. It gradually spiralled out of control. After being introduced to TKO through a mutual friend he started taking things more seriously. Cynics Spectre won the Cutting Room competition on L Doubles Connexions show on 1Xtra. This gave Cynic the inspiration needed to shift things up a gear. Spectre backed with Noodle Bar would go on to be his debut release on TKOs Abstract Inc label.
Now part of the Abstract Inc/K-O-Phonic click hes got a stack of tunes waiting to smash dance floors. As well as collaborations with TKO in the pipeline Cynic continuously spends days in the studio rolling out beats as well as gracing the decks.
