The Stoodes was formed back in the heydays of the Swedish punk wave -1978.The main focus was to make a racket and produce the most brutal rock east of Detroit.
The bands motto was (and still is) Rock Against Music. However it was also about getting drunk, staying drunk and play, or as they prefer to call it mangle, music.
As a result of their alcohol consumption, well the singer Deep Torkel was always pissed and the others just tiny bit more sober. They got a notorious reputation from day one and also from their first chaotic gig at Medborgarhuset.
The Stoodes never finished a whole show. Sometimes it was the members themselves fucking it up on other occasions they simply got thrown off stage.
The Stoodes lasted through some line-ups before they imploded in a haze of alcohol fumes.
A funny thing to note is that they had famous jazz drummer Peter Johannesson as their drummer for a short peroid. He always did a 20 minute drum-solo so the other members could get shit-faced..The legacy of chaos was captured on vinyl and was released under the name Metallic OK this album contained the first and last gig. Yup it was a nod to The Stooges. After the split all the ex-members continued playing music in other bands such as: Easy Action, Psychedelic Mongo, Motel Hell, Beer Gods and Suzie Beats them all. But with the exception of Suzie beats them all, none of the groups managed to live up to The Stoodes infamy.More than twenty years on the members are fat, sober and back. This time to mangle out some serious shit, and no they have not mellowed down.
Instead they have, in homage to a lost friend Mertsi Zane, recorded some of his hard as nails songs under the old band banner - The TANKS. These sessions will be released along with both old and new Stoodes material in the near future. Deep Torkel has also made some new Suzie Beats them All sessions which sound awesome. Worth waiting for. Will 2007 become the year The Stoodes will conquer the world? Nah hardly, but they will probably kick some serious butt and show all you young punks that you never get to old for mangling eardrums till they bleed...
