'electricity' was formed in early 2002 in order to bring to Dublin for the first time some of the leading names in electro, house & techno. Having run a series of successful one-off events throughout 2002 we brought our enthusiasm, promotional skills and love of good music to the Metropolitan in the form of 'Electric City'. Following two successful years in this venue, we brought 'Electric City' to Traffic in March 2005 where, with a much-improved sound-system and purpose-built club, we are happily at home in this intimate 200 capacity venue.'Electric City' is about providing top-class techno, electro and house artists in a special setting where the crowd is made up of music fans who like to dance and where artists can play whatever they feel to an open-minded crowd. Through our weekly club and record shop [Selectah Records] we are able to build up connections and create links and something strong in this city where the club, the shop and most importantly, the music, can grow in a community environment. We are known to be one of the most cutting-edge clubs in Ireland, with our policy of constantly bringing new names to these shores for their debut appearances. To achieve all this in less than four years and with the added difficulty of operating on a Thursday night is testament to the fact that we have an extremely regular loyal crowd who make the atmosphere at our nights a proper 'club'.Our music policy involves showcasing the best of Irish talent alongside internationals guests, many of whom make a pointed exception to come and play at our 'Electric City' party's when they would usually place much larger venues. This is due in no small part to the people who come to the events and give us the special 'electric' flavour.
