Purpose: To encourage environmental conservation and education, to develop student interests in different fields of science, further encouraging them to participate in community service in relation to the environment, and to make connections with classroom science knowledge to hands on field experience through trips to Rancho del Cielo, the university’s biological station in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Community Service: Rio Reforestation, Zoofari, Boo at the Zoo, Beach and Campus clean-ups, Brownsville Beautification, Nature Conservancy Southmost Preserve Butterfly Garden, Night of Giving, Sombrero Fest “High Striker,” Halloween Extravaganza, Sabal Palms Sanctuary, Upcoming recycling at UTB/TSC.
Events: 2005 Earth Day Event, Trips to Rancho del Cielo, End of the year trip (2005 GSS Mexico Archeological Excursion), and our first annual event in conjunction with Earth Day for April 2006- Anything that can Float Boat Race.
