The brainchild of renaissance man Jake Childs, as a label, Uniform like its father, neither looked nor sounded like anything else on the market. A head to toe reflection of Childs and the tension between styles that made him the object of fascination and curiosity, Uniform played with the conflict between house and techno before many other labels would be so brave. With hard edged electronic sounds dueling against the soul of disco, Uniform was anything but uniform in its sound. In short order the label earned legions of followers who turned to the brand as a trusted and forward-thinking source of things to come. In early 2009, Jake turned his attention to his POSR project (www.weareposr.com) handing the administrative reigns to trusted veterans Eddie "Spettro" and Traey Hatch, while retaining A&R and remixing duties for the fold. With Hatch managing the mastering, accounts payable and legal duties and Spettro on A&R, PR and marketing, the crew is rounded out by Larry Murphy. Their first move has been to recombine the labels, Uniform Black, Grey and White into one centralized imprint, while retaining the color coding system in the artwork to reflect the sound and guide the listener. The Uniform faithful can anticipate the same beautiful collision of sounds, now including nu-disco, indie-dance, tech-house, vocal house and more. While the cast may be changing, the scope of Jake Childs' vision are still the central and driving force for Uniform. We would expect nothing less.uni.form "Stand for something or fall for anything."
