*Laura's first EP will debut in digital form in February 2009, followed by a physical release in early Spring*
It all began in a small kitchen in London where a little girl named Laura, daughter of a charming Irishman and his beautiful Sri Lankan wife, held an ever-growing intrigue for the music her parents listened to. From Queen and Simply Red to Motown and Mariah Carey, she would sing along fervently to any melody that caught her fancy trying desperately to comprehend what made a vibrato. A decade later, Laura found herself and her family in Cincinnati, OH living the American dream. It is here that she later began formal classical voice lessons at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, all the while developing a soulful vocal style of her own, growing up singing in Church and at local community events. Her teen years brought a more ecclectic variety of musical influences, ranging from older R & B, Rock classics and Jazz to Electronic and Experimental sounds. College and the songwriting bug brought Laura to Nashville, TN where a meeting of destiny occurred. Enter James Capozzi, a true blue Yankee hailing from New York and Boston. Through mutual best friends, the two met and shared their first musical experience together at a Coldplay concert that affirmed their ambitions to craft songs of substance, originality, heart and soul. James' natural agility on the guitar, bluesey background bent on rock and roll, and sheer talent consistently bring the best to the table, making co-writing a dream come true for Laura's creative ear, honest lyrics, and soulful voice. The pair write passionate, earnest songs with a modern aesthetic on a rich, melodic foundation. Laura is recording her first EP with writing efforts from both James and producer/ co-writer, Sean Power.
