Locked Down Entertainment is responsible for major developments in the independent music scene in the Philippines. The team is known for being the first to break the longstanding barriers between hiphop and rock while incorporating jazz in the equation with its formation of the Sun Valley Crew band composed of original members: Slimm, ILL-J, & Juss Rye along with Eraserheads Raymund Marasigan & Buddy, jazz man Dan Gil, Dex & vocalist Uela.
LDE was founded by Jigger John Divina in 2002. It began as an events organization, and was later upgraded as an artist's management team and eventually an independent record label. Jigger decided that he ought to take his endeavors to the next level by directly signing groups and artists and releasing their albums as opposed to just working with heads for events. Home to established emcee ILL-J of Sun Valley Crew (LDE's original flagbearers), singer/femcee Monique formerly of 7 Shots of Wisdom, in demand producer Chrizo, Peoples Future, beatboxer Hira, Wolfmann+, Bagetsafonik & Away for the Day - Locked Down Entertainment has indeed taken its steps in capitalizing the industry. Five years in the making and much more in store for the future...
ILL-J's "The Journey" is available at Odyssey branches around Metro Manila as well as Our Father's Coffee (Taft Ave. and Robinson's Galleria) and Boboli, Glorietta 3.
