About Me

Raid started his musical journey back in 1991 as a hip hop DJ playing in a Centro Sociale (squatter underground clubs in Italy) called "Barricate", and producing tracks for a local rap crew. Pretty soon he developed an interest in the electronic sound, and in 1993 he started to collaborate with his friend Zedd. In 1994 their first production together emerged. During this same year, they formed their own studio. In order to develop more their productions skills, they sought out collaborations with DJs/producers of various styles of electronica music, ranging from techno, hard house, and minimal, to progressive, distorted, and elettro. Over the years, breaks became the focus in his productions and his DJ sets. In 1996, he produced his first jungle track, as well as his first breakbeat tracks. By 2000, Zedd had moved on to video production, and Raid, tired of the Italian dance scene of house and techno, transfered his studio to London. During his time in London, he collaborated with another music producer, Alex (Yale) They. In Italy at this time, drum and bass records where hard to come by. London solved this problem, and Matteo solidified his passion for drum and bass. Meanwhile, he completed a minimal techno project, which was distributed by Prime Distr. He returned to Italy in 2002. Since then he has been entirely devoted to drum and bass. The first track published after his return to Italy was a drum and bass track for the compilation 'Italian Bassline vol. 2', published by Afun recording, a label of the LinkDrumNBassArena crew. He also made a remix of the album by the electro pop group Hidea, produced by Zomba. During one of his gigs in Emilia, on a warm night in June, he met Spiko and Elena, one a DJ, and the other a lover of eletronic music. Very quickly, between the three, Modulate Recordings is born.
