my name is mandy.you may have been able to figure that out one. after a somewhat long hiatus from the myspace world i have decided to resurface and use a generic flash template which is actually quite nice, but alas, it is not mine. i've been trying to do the same thing for basically two years but who cares, whatever. flash isn't my thing.i am, however, a designer of sorts (see also: MANDYNICOLE.COM). i used to work at a lovely design firm in pasco called NUKEDIGITAL, but i decided that graphic and web design was much more of a hobby to me and doing it for a living was draining and somewhat frustrating. they took a risk bringing me in and it was an amazing experience, but ultimately it made me realize i had greater goals and possibly a greater potential.so i went to wsu for a semester and it was a complete joke. there were two teachers there i absolutely adored - michelle langill (psychology) and kristin arolla (web/english/rhetoric) - but my art teacher (the name i won't even bother you with) is so inept at her job that she told me that the best design school in the nation "puts out terrible artists; no one takes them seriously" and didn't know what graphic design/advertising courses they had available at the school or what they'd even be called. even their digital art stuff looked horrendous. bad decision on my part, and now i'm paying quite dearly for it. so thanks for putting out graduates that don't know jack shit and making me compete with their overpaid pieces of paper.so what next? i don't know. i'm going to try to move back home and get work going again. i still don't feel like this is my ultimate calling but this is what i do and feel comfortable enough with right now.. and it definitely makes ends meet. i just hope the next time i try to give myself and opportunity, it isn't hyped up to be a failure.i like words, so i write. i haven't in awhile, but when i get a chance to it supersedes me. hopefully i used that word in the right context. often times i don't but it makes sense to me on a more visual level.i like the idea of humans, but i don't often like most of them. much like i often don't like myself. much like i'm just a huge pessimistic bitch.i'm also a gamer. but i'm not that generic "LOL I PLAY ZELDA AND FINAL FANTASY GAMES! TEEHEE! MY BF ROX U @ CS OR WHATEV!!!LOL!!" gamer "chick." i take it as seriously as any of the boys do and i'd like to say i've made some waves of it through the local LAN scene and of course my real life gamer friends. so you can stop before you make that cute little "is that your boyfriend's xbox live account?" joke that everyone's made a million times, because no. it isn't his account; i would never let him ruin my score like that.: D
