About Me

Most recently, Curtis Jones, Jr. served for 15 years as President & Chief Executive Officer of the Philadelphia Commercial Development Corporation (PCDC). A member of the Mayor John F. Street's Administration, Mr. Jones served in city government throughout the past seven mayoral administrations.
A noted expert on community-based economic development, Mr. Jones has served in various public and private sector positions for more than a decade. Appointed in 1987 by Philadelphia Mayor W. Wilson Goode, Mr. Jones served as Deputy Director of Finance and Staff Director of the Minority Business Enterprise Council. Under his leadership, minorities, women, and disabled business entities received more than $583,000,000 in municipal contract opportunities.
Mr. Jones has held positions with the Philadelphia Commerce Department and the Greater Philadelphia Partnership (GPP). During his affiliation with the GPP, Mr. Jones was instrumental in the relocation of Control Data Corporation to the West Philadelphia Economic Empowerment Zone.
During his tenure as Director of the building fund for the nationally recognized House of Umoja Program in Philadelphia, Mr. Jones coordinated a $400,000.00 financing package to begin the first phase of the Boystown Renovation Project.
Mr. Jones has lectured extensively on economics and community development. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs and is the host of the "Handling Your Business" television show, which airs throughout the region.
Mr. Jones has served on several boards and executive committees including the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority's Minority Advisory Committee, Genesis II Board of Directors, West Philadelphia Economic Development Corporation Board, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau Minority Advisory Council. He has also served as co-Chair of the Philadelphia MED week Committee.
Mr. Jones is a founding member of the African American Chamber of Commerce, the Philadelphia Micro Loan Fund and the Muslim Business Association. He has held memberships on the City of Philadelphia's Vacant Property Review Committee, the Mayor's Small Business Advisory Commission, The Philadelphia Development Partnership, The Greater Philadelphia Economic Development Coalition, The North Philadelphia Partnership Committee and the Philadelphia Rescue Mission. In addition, he has numerous community and industry awards.
Mr. Jones has completed professional development coursework through the ACCA, which administers a contract compliance program affiliated at various times with Boston University and the University of Alabama; as a result, he holds a Professional Certificate as a Master Compliance Administrator. In addition, he attended the University of Pennsylvania's Fels School of Government.
