Do you have any plans for tonight?

About Me

Hello, I am Devin. I am not hip or cool but my wife, my eldest son, my brothers and alot of my friends are on MySpace so I figured I would sign up and, guess what, it's actually pretty cool. There's not much to know about me. As my friend, Bob, said, "Ain't no use in talking to me, it's just the same as talking to you!" Ha ha, just kidding, sorta. I am almost 30, and the most important things to know about me are that I am a born-again Christian, saved from who knows what by Gods great love and mercy, and that I am so very happily married to my beautiful wife, Heather, who is Gods greatest earthly gift to me. She is a remarkable woman, strong and capable of so much, and so loving and giving of herself to her family. She helped me to know what it means to love someone really, and not the finicky emotion of love that we all used to think was real. The real love of commitment and sacrafice, on top of all the great joy. God has also given me four wonderful children. Matt, my eldest, is 13. He is bright and athletic and handsome, and has a very kind and caring heart, and loves to care for his siblings. He never complains, which is a testimony to his unselfish nature, but because of that we must be careful not to overlook him. Devy is 3, and is very sweet and gentle and intelligent and imaginative. He picks up knowledge so fast, we wonder how we're going to keep up with him. Faeryn is 2 and is a beautiful, affectionate nutjob. She loves all the wild "boy" stuff that makes Dev nervous. she loves to flip and spin and do nutty things. you can't turn your back on her for a second b/c she loves to do what she's not supposed to, and things that are very dangerous! She will give me gray hairs for sure! Kailan is the new guy, 9 months, but his personaliy is developing into one so swet and even-tempered. He is so easy to please, and once his needs are met he will just sit with you and play and laugh and smile for the longest time. He is a great joy. Oh, and he is tiny, which has the doctors worried, but, whatever, he's cute as a button! Just kidding. not about the tiny, or the cute, or the worried, just the whatever. I have been blessed from birth by beautiful parents who loved my brothers and I truly, and who passionately love each other, and set the good example of what family should be. We were ignorant of this until we started going out on our own and seeing what some other peoples families are like. I love my parents and am so grateful for them. My brothers are the best, I love them and am proud of them both. We are all NYC Firemen, my brothers and my father. One of my brothers is a Marine veteran of Iraq, and my other brother is a loony toon, but they are both great in their own unique way. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go `round, and we need all of the different kinds. A while back we needed a place to live, and I prayed to the Lord to help us find a place. About a week later my wifes parents called us up and offered to buy us a house! So, by Gods great love and the tremendous generosity of my in-laws, whom I love (and yes, I loved them before this!), we are moving upstate to a beautiful place with a modest house, but with a pond and a stream and woods, and lots of stars for gazing, dreaming and talking of our future, and pondering the vastness of Gods glory. The kids will run, play, and catch frogs, and we may get some horses...ok, I am getting a bit carried away. We will see what the future brings. Is there anything left to be said. There are many things I could write but I can't fathom how it would hold your attention, so, nice to meet you, hope you enjoy your stay at my page, and may God bless you and all your future endeavors. Is that dorky? Sorry.

My Interests

So much, this world that God made rocks! Except for the sin and death part, of course, but that wasn't His original plan, but anyway...Handball, baseball, football are my favorite sports. Music, all kinds except rap and heavy metal. I love to listen to it and play it. I have a degree of proficiency with the guitar, piano, and harmonica, but y'know, everybody know how to play those ones. I like to sing, can't vouch for those around me. I like to draw and paint, but I never really do it. I love all science, it is all fascinating. Astronomy, Nanotechnology, Bionics, Physics (just theoretical, I am not smart enough to do the math parts), Zoology, Botany, Genetics, Neurology, Chemistry, Archaeology, Anthropology, Paleontology, Geology, it is all so good. Sometimes I think I should have been a scientist, but I could never have chosen one single science to do. So now I run into burning buildings. Yahoo! Oh, and sweep floors...

I'd like to meet:

Jesus. the central figure of history. The Son of God, the Son of Man. So important yet, though we have all the information we need to know the truth to the extent that God know we need to know it, there is still so much more clouded in darkness, covered over by time, that I would love to know. We all know about Jeses preaching, and casting out demons, and healing the sick and raising the dead, and going to the cross and rising from the grave, but what was he like on the many night he spent along with the disciples, in the wildernesses between towns, or talking privately at the home of a person who believed in him? How fortunate were those men, who could ask their question of God, face to face with His son, and could have their answer. There are so many things I would like to ask...Guess I will have to wait til I see him in Heaven, but it is not always easy to wait :)

Music:

All kinds, mostly anything by a person or group that is truly genuine, even if they are not good. Old Bob dylan was probably my favorite, when it was just he and his guitar and harmonica and that was it, no crazy elaborate producing and dubbing and mixing to cover the faults and airbrush the defects (I don't like the phony aspects of our culture). So, lots of folk. Also classical, and anything else that is melodious and skillful, whether it is rock and roll or jazz or the wierd trance-like stuff I hear on the college radio station.

Movies:

Passion of the Christ, Gladiator, Band of Brothers, Monty Pythons Holy Grail and Life of Brian, Ace Ventura, Star Wars, Last of the Mohicans, Legends of the Fall, Transformers Movie, lots of other silly stuff I'm sure.

Television:

Yankee game, thats it.

Books:

Bible, books about the bible, history and science books, and now books about firefighting. I am not really into fiction, although when I was younger I read the Dragonlance series, and I thought they rocked, especially the two trilogies, Chronicles, and Legends. And the Huma book was good.

Heroes:

Jesus,my father, and my wife. Jesus you probably heard something about, my dad, probably not so much. My dad is the worlds most awesome man. He is one of nine siblings, and his dad died when he was 15. He worked very hard since then and is now a Chief in the FDNY. He always taught us to do the right thing, work hard, don't procrastinate, stay on top of things, get everything squared away when you can, don't leave loose ends hanging. He loved our mother very much, and held her in highest esteem. He was always on top of us to keep us out of trouble, and wanted so much for us in life. Now that we're all firemen, and one of my brothers works in my dads old house, and I work next to the house where he was a Lietenant, we hear from those that new him the he was great, sharp, and and man of character. A had worker and a great fireman, and a stand-up guy. I love him and he's the best. for my wife, scroll waaaaaaaaaaaaay up to the top. Thank you, bye bye.
