Singing since before she could remember, Danyelle started performing in front of her stuffed animals singing songs by her musical influences that include Aretha Franklin, Shirley Murdock, and Whitney Houston. But it was the influences of her mother and stepfather, that allowed Danyelle to open herself up and find her own voice. By doing just that, Danyelle found her passion for music. She began singing in talent shows, pop contests as well as in school and church choir.
This want to sing was noticed by everyone around Danyelle and ultimately led to her meeting Troy "Supreme" Washington of Supreme Records in her junior year at Texas Southern University. With Troy making the beats and Danyelle laying down the vocals, "It was nothing but fire," as Danyelle puts it. And just when she thought it couldn?t get any better, Danyelle met super producer Jelani Clay (JClay) of Pink Slip Records through Supreme. Between these overly talented young men, Danyelle was able to tap deeply into her creative genes.
After much prayer and decision making, Danyelle decided to join the ranks of Pink Slip Records, and the rest as they say?.is history.
