VOLDENBERG - Warsaw City Punx
VOLDENBERG was formed in late 2005 by Marek 'Markus' Iwanczuk, musician who played in the first polish punk bands in late '70's - Kryzys (with Robert Brylewski of Armia and Brygada Kryzys's fame) and Poland (with Kazik Staszewski of Kult and his solo records' fame).
VOLDENBERG was formed mostly from desire to play a simple, straight-forward but intelligent punk rock. Markus wanted to mix the best aspects from punk '77 and punk'82. The Clash meets G.B.H.
Being over 40 years old Markus knew that punk means youth and energy. He contacted his friend, Piotrek "Klex" Fleks, 35-year-old drummer who played with polish bands Jezus Chytrus Oj! and Oranzada. Then he found young guitarist of local fame, Piotrek "Pietia" Olczyk, whom he invited to play in the band.
Fast-paced songs are confronted with those more subtle. Those "slow" ('cause they ain't that slow!) songs are sung mainly by Markus. Faster songs are furiously shouted by Pietia, 21-year-old guitarist.
All in all, VOLDENBERG is just an old school punk band. Nothing more, nothing less.
See ya in the pit!
Or never see ya again. Voldenberg R.I.P. 2009.
