Christopher "Corporate Chris" Williams has the AMBITION and DETERMINATION of a hustler, been only 20 and having his own company Connect Music Group is not where Corporate pictured himself a couple years ago but with the mindset of a 25 year old and the hustle of a drug dealer he deserves to be where he is at. "My homie gave me the name Corporate, and I never really asked him why he started calling me that. I was thinking maybe it's because of the way that I handle business, at least I'm hoping that's why..."
"Growing up I was always into different things but I think it was hard to be different coming from where I come from, and it took me a long time to realize that I had to be different in order to be successful, I mean I'm into skateboards and things like that and you really don't find that where I'm from but my mind is in a whole other planet." Corporate notes Pharrell and N.E.R.D a key influence in the way he chose his style. "I was always into being different and listening to different kinds of music but I don't think I let a people notice it until I got older."
Born in Miami, Florida but raised in Atlanta in since the age of 3, Corporate was addicted to the fast life and cash, "I don't picture myself having the life of another person my age, just because the simple fact that I'm cut from a different cloth and their can't be another me...PERIOD!!!" Around the age of 16 and realizing just like any other teen that his chances of becoming a pro basketball player were slim to none, he began to focus on music and the industry as a whole.
"I was always into mixtapes and writing songs heavy but I didn't rap or sing and I was always the first person on the block with that new Jay-Z or Dipset mixtape. It was pretty funny." Corporate's love and passion for music would stick with him through his teen years and he was certain he wanted to pursue a dream in the fastlife of the music world. "I wasn't thinking about what anybody else was doing around me, I did it because I wanted to and I think even though the entertainment world was so over-saturated I still wanted to put all my marbles into the game and I don't regret it!"
With his Connect Music Group company which was formed by him and childhood best friend and Atlanta producer Ronald "Franchize" Frost, along with their flagship rap artist Brandon "B Roc" Stewart fully up and running, Corporate is bound for success, "I'm only 20 but I got the mindframe of a person light years ahead of me. I got plenty of floks who rely on me so I can't let them down, I'm a hustler and a young boss and I'm not about to stop here I want businesses and ventures and I work so hard to get here it's ridiculous."
Being in love with fashion and the whole skateboarding culture, Corporate wanted to fuse the two together. So along with a couple of his business partners, from Atlanta he formed Team URN and a clothing line called United Rich Nation. "I wear alot of BBC, Ice Cream, Supra, Diamond Supply and brands like that and I want to start putting clothing in skate boutiques and clothing boutiques out here in Atlanta first. Then we are going to make custom decks, trucks, and all that good stuff but I want to make sure that the skaters are involved and not just some random designers who don't know anything about the vision that we have for it.
After writing numerous songs Corporate decided to release music of his own and not keep giving his ideas away. "I've been songwriting forever but I kept everything to myself, but I always had melodies popping up and my head and I would write my them down along with my hooks, I didn't want to get into the rap game because it seems so over-saturated to me but the homies would tell me that I brought something different to the table and my words painted pictures rather than tell your common stories!" Corp continues to co-write along with Atlanta rapper B Roc but promises to put out music of his own.
"I'm probably the youngest most connected man in the city, because I got my hands involved in so much. I love to branch out and step outside of the box because the world is a lot bigger than your hometown or your city." Corporate Chris's grind has definetly been recognized after appearing on XXLMAG.com's top 80's babies to watch for, prepping for a appearance in Vapors Magazine, and blogging on official website CorporateChris.Com, he has so many reason's to smile. "I'm a very humble, down-to-earth dude and that's why I think people can relate to me so much. At the end of the day I do me and make sure that I'm proud of myself!" And indeed he does it well...........
