Da Baaz Breakdown.... Baaz (abbre. of El Shahbaaz) was born J.R. Perez El Jr.. Son of Milagros M. Perez (Mother) & J.R.Gilliard Bey Sr. (Father); professional drummer known for touring with Superstar artist such as Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Franky Beverly & Maze, Patti Labell and many more.Raised at home with 2 brothers & only Mom around, Baaz attended school in Philadelphia up until 1989. Transferred out of the public school system, Baaz left for Job Corp where he stayed until finishing in September of 1991 with diplomas in Building & Matainance Engineering & Business Clerical/ Compuer Processing. It was in Charleston, WV where Baaz started his 1st Hip hop group & and opened up for headiners Run DMC live at the Capital Complex during the Sternwheel Regata.In early winter of 1993, Baaz was arrested for drug posession with intent to distribute as well as gun charges & was a suspect in conspiracy case that went sour before his trial when the said co defending suspects(Shamil & Dusean,- The Judd Brothers..) turned up dead at a Downtown Nightclub In Charleston, WV.. Baaz Was sentenced to 5 Years.In 1997, Baaz returned home to Philadephia. Even though hip hop changed, people changed; many things changed - except for Baaz. That why still to this day, when you hear him on track, it's beyond fresh. Far past just being Hot! Not only do you wanna listen...., You feel the need to respond!! It's Realer than Rap.It's 2006, getting ready to be '07' less than 60 days from now. People walk to a new pulse in the city & it just so happens to be vibrating straight out of hustlers hollow.
