About Me
Jennifer Lynn, violinist, was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She began her studies at six years old learning the Suzuki method, eventually taking the more traditional approach with standard repertoire on both violin and viola. Accepted into the University of Southern California with a 4.17 GPA, Jennifer earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Lyndon J. Taylor, as well as a Graduate Certificate in baroque violin performance with Elizabeth Blumenstock on full scholarship. Due to her merit and talent, she was inducted into the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda in 2006.
Ms. Lynn has won numerous competitions, most notably First Prize in the Musical Merit Competition of Greater San Diego, which awarded her $10,000 and sent her to the Aspen Music Festival and School on full scholarship, and 1st place in the ASTA Competition State Finals on viola at the young age of thirteen. She attended the Chautauqua Institution in Jamestown, NY on scholarship for three years, ultimately performing with the Music School Festival Orchestra as concertmaster. Recently, Jennifer traveled to Toronto, Canada to study with Jeanne Lamon at the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute. She was the only student chosen to participate in their joint program with the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique in France later that Fall with noted baroque violinist and conductor Lucy van Dael.
One of the first students to privately study chamber music with world-renowned concert violinist Midori Goto at USC, Jennifer has also studied with the late Eleanore Schoenfeld. She has participated in chamber music masterclasses with the Eroica Trio, Guarneri, Audobon, and Juilliard Quartets and has performed nationally in solo violin masterclasses with Almita Vamos, Sally O'Reilly, Jacques Israelievitch and Anne Akiko-Meyers.
Apart from her classical career, Jennifer likes to take a different route with her electric violin. She toured through Australia in the summer of 2007 with the band "Metaphor" in twenty-one cities across the continent, appearing nationally on television on the KerriAnn Kennerly Show and making headlines in Sydney's major syndicated paper, the Daily Telegraph. She performed in February under the baton of Led Zeppelin's Jon Paul Jones with the Foo Fighters at the 2008 Grammy Awards and most recently performed with the band Rock Star Supernova, including drummer Tommy Lee, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angles as part of their tour, "Battleground Earth".
Presently, Jennifer is working on transcribing and arranging popular rock songs for solo electric violin.
