About Me

If Johnny Rivers, Mark Knopfler, Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison wrote songs together at the gravesite of Buddy Holly, the result might be something like Roger Silverberg's music.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.rogersilverberg.com
Influences: Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers, Hank Williams and all the real country music from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. The fabulous Philly Soul music that only got played in that market in the mid 60s. White piano-based soul, as in Carole King and Laura Nyro. The one-namers: Dylan, Zevon, Springsteen, Cash, Dion. Then there's Johnny Rivers, Roy Orbison, George Harrison (Beatles and Solo career)and Mark Knopfler--sonically they're perhaps the closest comparisons I believe truly might stick; the list could go on and on.
Sounds Like: Roy Orbison, you got nothing to fear. Vocally, somewhere between Johnny Rivers and Bob Dylan. Musically, everything from Dion and the Everly Brothers to Bee Gees, Hall & Oates, and Dire Straits--but they're originals--so that should cover a lot of ground.

Eyes on the Prize

The prize being a finished album.  Most of the puzzle pieces are at least on the board rather than on the floor or, worse, still in the damn box .  But there's been some major satisfaction in getting ...

Small milestone reached last weekend.

The almost mythologically torturous path my album project has taken finally made it onto paved road. Whether that means Im cruising an 8-lane Interstate Highway or a country backroad filled with yet-...

2009 starts

I don't do resolutions. But I do work pretty hard to attain my goals. Music is very much at the core of my life. Everything else I do is being done to support the passion. I quit one "soul sucking...

Just (about) In Time for NERFA

Today was the day. I've finally got a "master" of the 4 songs I'll be pressing onto an EP. The full album is taking its time but there is a clear pathway even if every last detail--like which studio I...

A few more small steps

Finally, finally... a decent rough mix of "Just In Time For Summer". And wait, there's more: a somewhat more complete version of "Love In The Kitchen" with Robert Langley's overdubbed percussion part...

Its mid-July and theres music in the air

Readers of these things know I'm not a frequent blogger. It is with mixed feelings that I comment on the cancellation of the August 2nd set I was supposed to do in New York City. This was the final p...

Fans and Friends

I don't know who my fans are.In August of 2005, at a CD release party where I launched my first album in 24 years I tossed out this challenge at the end of a 45 minute set to the 85 or so friends who ...

The Hammond B3

My album has finally crossed the halfway point. (cue SFX: wild cheers, catcalls, woot woots, etc.) The magic happened up in Woodstock, NY in a flurry of activity over 2 1/2 days. I got back about 2...
