Okay, now that I've gotten that nonsense out of my system, allow me to introduce myself...
Hi, my name is Jeff Counsil, but I like to spell it Jeph... just to be weird.
I've been married for nearly 24 years to my high school sweetheart, soulmate & the love of my life. We have two children and four amazing grandchildren (that I know of).
My eldest child... my daughter and her family were living in England for a few years; I missed them greatly. They've since moved back to the United States but they live about 200 miles away so I don't get to see them often.
What do I do? As a career, I've worked in State government since 1993. I like the security and the medical insurance, but the job hasn't exactly been a great outlet for my creative side.
You may ask yourself, "What creative side?"
Well, my usual creative outlet consists of role-playing games; primarily a slightly tweaked version of Dungeons & Dragons v3.5, D20 Modern and Traveller. Yes, you guessed it... I'M A GEEK!!
I'M A WRITER... unpublished thus far, but I will oneday write that Great American Novel. I am usually drawn to science fiction and medieval fantasy stories, but every now and again I find myself inspired to write something completely different.
I haven't submitted anything for publication in a very long time. I went quite a while without writing anything substantial but in 2007 I was inspired to start writing again... this time, I am confident it will lead to something positive.
Right now I'm working on two novels: the first one is part of a science fiction series with the working title MAELSTROM: THE CHILD OF DESTINY. I'm also co-writing a sequel to a wonderful sci-fi novel along with author Matt Browne. Hi, Matt!
With any luck, I'll have my novel completed and ready for the arduous process of numerous rewrites and edits by the end of 2010. The "moment of truth" comes once the novel has been rewritten and edited a few dozen times, when it should finally be ready for submission to a publisher.
