...hey man, lets jam!

About Me

sit down son, let me tell you a story. along time ago in the hill-billy region of Lampe Missouri, a young squire and his family of 22 kids, 3 parents, 6 cats, 3 dogs and some dumb kid who took a wrong turn at Branson, set out in one of the 8 cars that happened to be parked in the front yard. Thus began a journey that would change his life forever... they tootled on past an old wood sign that lingered near the Kanakuk reagon. As I recall in my old mountain-man memmory, it said Perssimmon hills berry Farm and depicted a mouse proudly holding a muffin in its paw almost as though this was his excalibur. after all, this wasn't just any muffin... THIS WAS THE THUNDERMUFFIN!!!!!! The young squire said to himself "gee, never in my life have i heard such such an awe-inspiring name. I vow that next time i go down to the corner store to buy some jerkey i shall purchase a banjo and name it THUNDERMUFFIN!!!!!" This was odd, because hillbillys rarely speak with such good grammar. The young squire kept his promise, and that banjo has been handed down from generation to generation untill now, at which point it lies in the hands of four brothers (all of whom have different last names, but hey, they're hillbillys) They carry on the tradition, not just as a banjo, but as an entire orgasm of electric sound that is..... THUNDERMUFFIN!!!!!!!!Thundermuffin is: Sean Attebery, Jeff Berry, Connor Doolan, and Fritz Hutchison.
They have been playing together for a year and are beginning to find their niche in the vast world of music. As a band we try to avoid musical and lyrical cliches by taking our time with songs. We let unfinished songs sit for months before key parts are discovered. We don't want to sell our fans short by playing songs that are not truly our own yet. We dont like to let one genre define us, so all songs are open to suggestion and interpretation. Most of our songs contain aspects from many genres- with occasional jazz drumming, ska guitar beats, 80's finger tapping, 70's rock progressions, and funky bass lines.
All parts come together as one in Thundermuffin and the band is more important than any individual. Democracy rules in regards to song-writing and lyrics, and no ones voice is unheard. Sean and Jeff like to switch it up by sharing bass duties, Connor lets go of his jazz-fusion and trippy finger tapping roots occasionaly to play rock on songs that just require rawk, and Fritz even writes some bass and guitar parts. Everyone gives a little so the band as a whole can sound diverse, unique, and original.
In late 2006, Thundermuffin spent three hours in Markosa Stuidios recording a demo. We had only been together for about three weeks, didn't have any vocals, and were still getting to know eachother as a band. But now that we have played some shows together, practiced a whole lot, and started to find a groove as a band, we are going back to Markosa Studios to record an 11 track cd. Expect "The Great Oven in the Sky" to be out by October. Thanks for listening and contact us if you've got anything for us...
