LC the Illest, birth name Lamin Conta, nickname LC was born on the 15: th of December 1983 in Banjul, Gambia by his then 15year old mother Niumi Bayo. Already from an early beginning LC..s family could see his love for music. Only 8years old LC climbed the stage at the Independent stadium when his uncle, the famous reggae artist, Demba Conta was performing. LC..s precens on stage became loved by the audiance and ever since LC seen the stage as his home. Year 1989 LC..s father, Mamadi Conta, left Gambia for Sweden with a promise to bring his family as soon as possible. Years of struggle and hard work made it possible in 1996 for Mamadi to bring his two sons, Lamin and Demba Conta, to Stockholm, Sweden. Well in Sweden LC..s love for music only grew and with the next couples of years LC started to write and produce a lot of his own music, but that was only a start. LC looks at himself as a true hip hop artist and these were the right years to blow up as one. LC soon had a lot of friends and fans, and started several groups with friends, performing all over Stockholm, winning contest after contest. Most recognized group, INT, shaped by 8guys took Stockholm by storm and it looked like they would be the next hit group to come up on the charts. But sadly all members weren’t as dedicated as LC was and the group separated. With inspiration from artist like 2pac, Nas and Notorious B.I.G aka Biggi, LC kept fighting for his music knowing that he could make it as long as he believed. LC still worked a lot with one other member from INT, Madness, and together they came out with some real bangers for the audience. But mostly LC thought of a solo career which he could mold and shape as however he would want it. LC, already known in Stockholm for his hardcore rap, started spreading his music out of country travelling a lot to both Paris and London. In London, as always, people flocked around him, wanting to hear more of his ill beats and rhymes and as many struggling teens, LC hanged in the hood where underground hip hop was a strong influence in many youth’s lives. After several problems with the police LC fled the country as soon he had a chance and went to Paris, France, where he met up with his friend and talented underground hip hop artist, Fainel. Together they kept the struggle for money alive and at the same time tried to find time for the studio as much as possible. A few months later LC came back to Stockholm, Sweden, with recorded songs in his pockets, rhymes in his head and experience for life. Still being young and careless, LC kept the money-struggle alive keep being involved with drugs and criminals. LC family opposed his way of living and there for LC frequently changed his home address, going from one friend to another to find a roof over his head. Year 2007 LC found peace in his soul and made peace with his family, dropping criminal acts and drug abuse behind him, looking forward to all that life still had to bring for him, and gear up his attempt to spread his music. Now, intrigued by artist like Akon and Hakim, coming out strong representing their roots from Africa, LC is determined to make it worldwide. And with love from his family in Sweden, England, France, USA and Gambia , and with the professional producers and artists that he work with, LC knows is only a matter of time until the world knows his story.
