Me, myself and my little friends PRS, Ibanez and GNX4. My wife has a strat I have not incorporated into any recording yet. Basically I have been playing guitar since I was about 13 but...never had any instruction or training and play primarily by ear. Let me further qualify that even though I have been playing since 13 that they were not constant years, I have really
probably gone three 2 year runs speread over decades where I have consistently played and of course a lot of those are catching back up to where I was as good as I was last time I started playing but...I am in it for the long haul now and I oly regret ever putting it down so many times for financial reasons always :(.
My first band I really loved and studied was Black Sabbath (Ozzy years)
primarily, but than expanded into Led Zep, Rush, Montrose etc. but I will add
them on influences as well. The guy that got me interested inplaying again in
the mid 80's was Jammin' Joe Satriani and surfing with the alien release, I
always loved the idea of just instrumental guitar recordings and he was getting airplay :).
My thoughts on playing styles etc. Only a few guitarists can really get away
with putting as many notes into 1 second as possible and still keep my
attention, I believe sometimes less is more and we should all pay attention to
this, many times I will get into a zone playing and after awhile it is more like
an out of body experience for me is probably just me going on a tangent to
everyone else :). I also believe that each note should mean something and have feeling and soul (Not like a robot).
The problem I seem to have right now is I constantly want to record, I have so many ideas channeling through me right now I want to tap into it and record it before I forget or lose interest.
Watching my
Nephew play in his band really made me want to play again on a more regular basis and an old friend of mine ( Brian Hayes ) that I grew up with a few years in Florida is big into playing
guitar and he is also an instructor of guitar etc. Just being in contact with
him again and communicating with him in this Myspace community has been motivating and inspirational.
This Myspace community is the perfect channel for aspiring musicians and music lovers alike to keep in touch and possibly collaborate and hear samples of what you can do etc.
So anybody that may be interested in creating a virtual band over the web with me let me know, I think it would kick ass to have people from possibly all over the world to work together on musical projects and take it to a new level of recording around the world. I would consider a second guitarists but primarily would need a good drummer or someone that can virtually create a great drum set with a machine etc., a bassists a vocalists and lastly someone with the ability to record at a professional level i.e. better than me :). The name of te virtual band would be TXROCK and eveyone involved would get full credit for their part. If for some reason I do not accept does not mean you are not good enough, it may just mean you do not have what I am looking for and should not consider it to be an insult in anyway.
Secondly if you already have a virtual band in need of a guitarist to add Rythm or Lead licks on a set I would be interested in that as well, I will start
posting my lead capabilites shortly, I am still refining some of my techniques
etc. (calling card so to speak). Rock and Roll
