The Communicators

About Me

The Communicators are a 9 piece skanking bunch of nutters from across the South West that play their own outrageous blend of old school Jamaican ska, two-tone classics and new wave ska-punk. Expect a banging back line consisting of drums, bass, percussion and keyboards coupled with a red-hot guitar player, razor sharp horn section and vocals from a fat bloke in a whistle! Formed in the early part of 2005 The Communicators haven't hung around in entertaining ska lovers in dance halls up and down the country and having a right good time in doing so. With a brass section Bad Manners would be proud of, The Communicators are a must see for anyone who has ever worn Dr Martens or a crombie.
How did this Bunch of reprobates come to meet I hear you cry?!
Geezer in a pub (Lightfoot) asked Big Mitch to join his ska band. That made two of them! Mitch recruited Mossy Boy and collected Stinky, Stretch, Kato, Beaker, Bones and El Gingerie on the way to Hotshots Snooker Parlour for the first rehearsal.
Lightfoot turned into the great Houdini half way through and legged it down the road leaving only an amp (it wasn't his) and a pack of cigarettes. The band got battered at the bar - and the rest is history.
Sergeant Stax replaced Lightfoot and Captain Bongo brought his congas and his best dustbin lid. Frosty and Zippy followed Donkey Dan (who followed Frosty) and the Doctor into trumpet and keys, while the horny three took over El Gingerie's vocal duties. Gonzo appears in photographs.
What was intended to be a bit of fun for some passionate musicians turned out from day one to be some serious music. With influences from Trojan, through two-tone to third wave ska-punk, these guys can play anything - and they do! And it swings.
