About Me

Manipulating matter into some form of Art has always been a part of my life. Whether I'm using pen, pencil, and paint...or motion and still photography, I’ve always challenged myself to try and push the limits of a medium. For me, this process is amazingly therapeutic. By pouring my emotions into a piece I invariably purge my mind of all its concentrated energy. Ultimately, this purging leads to the attainment of a delightfully blissful (and quite addictive) state of Zen. In this perpetual state of limited animation several hours can easily pass by without notice. I view a blank sheet of paper as a sponge…with the ability to absorb and retain everything that I am willing to pour into it. When I’m finished, that which has been created, essentially captures and conveys a moment of my life. By doing so, a piece of art provides me with the unique opportunity to reflect back upon my state of mind at various stages of my growth and development. A bonus for me, is the added pleasure of knowing that casual observers of my work or "those who dare to squeeze the sponge" may likely extract entirely new and colorful interpretations…quite apart from what I may have originally intended. Over time I have actually grown to appreciate positive criticism…accepting that, if for no other reason, it serves as a constant reminder that beauty still lies exclusively “in the eye of the beholder”.........................
