Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Lillian Penner sang and played piano with her 4 sisters preforming at various functions in her earlier years. She studied classical violin and piano, but also developed a love of composition, with her first live preformance of original music at the age of 13. She arrived in Calgary in 1989 and continued to write, winning the Lite 96 songwriting contest in 1993 with 'The way love turned'. As a studio musician, her harmonies, cello and piano are heard on many albums. She finished her own CD in 1996 called 'Late at night'. She began playing celtic fiddle in a small group, and later in the band "Scatter the Mud". Resuming her love of classical piano, and newly inspired by celtic music, Lillian began teaching again in 2000. Currently, she is working on a second album to be released sometime in 2008.
