as stated, the first friend has some of the demos which preceded my debut solo album we are producing now..out in the 'wilderness studio' with steve dawson. the next 4 friends are some of my other beautuful noisy projects shared with some of the best men in music. check 'em out. all gold.
and then there's the rest of my professional life..as written below here. maybe you'll get through..
Musician...vox/drummer/guitarist. Producer/ co producer of other interesting noisy/visual stuff too. www.ctiproductions.com.au if you want a squiz. New uncomfort zone since Dec '06 is the odd stand up comedy gig. Scarier than a colinoscopy in a chemical war zone.
Play music for a living...2 to 9 nites a week..since the Rolling Stones brought a new album out called 'Undercover of the Night'..a vaguely more interesting anectdote in telling the time span of my craft. A few lil filmo tele things, all velly interesting...kinda see above. Might slip some gig guides in here soon.
The two main original music projects currently are firstly as drummer/vox with Steve and Russ(see below)in The Steve Hargreaves Band with Steve's superb batch of songs..one day..when the most dangerous band i know can get life to co-incide with each other's members for an extended period of time..the most freakishly muso crazy act will have an album out..but until then, you will just have to come to our gigs to see.
UPDATE June '07.
obviously now, satellites and cohagen quaid are now a very real permament fixture in my musical collaborative makings that excite me to no end..now back to the story.
AND.. after many inspired true 'band' projects over the years, there's my first solo band project succinctly titled 'Paul' (or known as '& the freedom fighters' or '& the extras from fortress' when beer is added, this second title is a little in-joke referring to my part-ham acted featured extra role in said Christopher Lambert movie in the 90's) that launched itself successfully Dec '06 at The Living Room on Caxton St, Petrie Tce, Brisbane. The line-up currently consists of myself on acoustic/vox, Troy Addie the drummer's drummer on acoustic/ backing vox, Ryan Gobbe from Two Tone dance music fame ..s/noises, from previous projects with Troy and myself is Benno Newton on bass and Anna Richardson from SFM fame on accompanying vocals. These musicians came together after 3 and a half rehearsals before the gig and showed how damn good and professional their talents and instincts are. Humble craftsmen/women..apart from Ben, of course. From well crafted, english styled guitar pop sensibilities with melodic and syncopated subtle crossovers graduating to hooky powerful passionately played rockers, always with a wry snigger and a depth under the surface.
Have played in a quite a few original bands with releases that have been very good and got sum airplay on the teev and radio, good support gigs, bla bla..lets chuck some of the names out there..The Untouchables, Supercede, Crush Lovers, Sblmason, Cohagen Quaid, Satellites..thats a few.

The working band is 'The Outer Control' or the working duo is 'Chaffing Amy'. Depending on the line-up on the nite I'll swap between guitar and drum duties, but the spiritual home for me is drummer/vox in this outfit. Mind you, I have been the outfront guitar wielding vox guy for most of 2007's gigs. The ridiculously talented lads I play with who are the main nucleii(?) are Steve Hargreaves and Russel Tozer. I can't say how bloody good they are..but I'll try. Steve is a syncopated triplet swinging monster on his Ovation acoustic with a powerful voice from the more angelic pits of hell, and The Russ can carve anything...and I do mean anything..and he can also play just 3 notes for 3 min that will melt you. Can also in the rite spots..REALLY show the kids...(and Ingwie Malmsteen, chortle)... how to shred with class..and ROCK. Ooh, I do mean that. Taste and real power is the product when we play music together, and it's always dangerous. As in Velvet Revolver kinda dangerous but with more syncopation. Enough said.
heres some vids taken of russ performing some of my songs off my debut album.. all live videos of this show and more on youtube.com/pauladdiemusic and inside my vids on my debut album/demos page, my first friend in here. here's NANNA and PHAZER for a taste.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

A strange question. Sometimes it's not wise to meet your 'heroes'..your expectations might not reflect the occasion you may have expected. Or you could be drowned in inspiration. I've had both.
A better story..
I was driving to the Nine Inch Nails gig at the Boondall Entertainment Centre when my sound engineering friend 'B' (not his real name) rang from the Tarago van whilst he was driving Mr. Reznor & co. to the venue, asking if I might have some..er 'freshness of scandinavia' for Trent & the boys after the gig. Alas, I did not. And one does not ask to hang once it's established one cannot abide with the initial request. Similar calls was also made at later times for Slash & the Velvet Revolver boys, Mark Knoffler from Dire Straits..and funny as all fookery..Bette Middler. Tee Hee indeed. O.k., i'll play ball. I'll be a boy and say Fammke Jansen, Madeline Stowe in her "Last of the Mohicans' era..and even though friends have worked with/met her, an adolescent intrigue for Adalita from Magic Dirt still exists. Strong, unique striking features is my eye's sexy and strong women with low and highbrow art and culture love and knowledge in tact with a penchant for the verbal riff on the fly are my mind's sexy that almost makes the other points irrelevant.
For the men, Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey from Black Books and Ben Elton I guess. Stop thinking that, that's just silly... I met the lads from that Welsh treat of a band, Mclusky..they are the sanest, most generous with their wit and wisdom men on the planet...rest in peace you fine men of rock.
