In the last year, Cryptic Hour has established themselves as one of the premier Melodic/Thrash Metal acts on the Western Slope of Colorado. But in the band’s recent months, they have written an album of new material, covering a much more diverse range of musical genres, inside and outside of the metal realm. The compilation of songs to make up Cryptic Hour's new effort has been titled "The Silence," named after the band's 12 minute epic, featuring elements of Jazz, Tribal, and Progressive Metal.
Cryptic Hour is a group of very diverse musicians from very different backgrounds, bringing elements of many genres into their sound. The band was conceptualized in 2006 by frontman Matt Bugielski after playing in multiple area bands that lacked originality, and in some cases, musical talent. After bringing in prominent area musicians Mike Bradley (7th Seal), Aaron Hughes (ExMortis), and Ryan Wolff, the band discovered and patented a style all their own, and built an exceptionally original sound off of each others musical knowledge and passion.
The Group’s sound is defined as follows: “…the ‘Old School Metal’ inspired guitar harmonies, sick low end thump, and off rhythm, driving double bass drum beats alone will leave you craving more. The In-your-face, throaty vocals will throw you up against the wall, and the face-melting guitar solos will put you right through it. They cover both ends of the musical spectrum, the beautiful side that makes you want to cry, and the brutal side, the one that makes you want to duck and cover.â€
Cryptic Hour is seeking to record their first album, a musical rollercoaster ride featuring the bands early material, and their follow-up, "The Silence," the bands effort of combining masterful compositions, precise technicality, soaring melodies, and memorable riffs. Both albums will orchestrate the musical progression of this small town, Western Colorado quartet.
