Yvrance Simone produced her, Crown Heights Brooklyn Bred her, Boston, MA Molded her... J.Simone is here to stay and ain't going no where but to the top. Like her looks Ms. Simone is diversified in skills and talents. She is Singer, Writer, Actor, Model, Event Specialist, Socialite, Producer, & Hostess/MC. With all of these many talents there is no doubt that success isn't imminent. As a young child J was quiet, studious and shy growing up in Brooklyn NY's Crown Heights Section. Born to a single Haitian Mother of four in the 80's, life was a struggle and deemed impossible to survive with her four kids. After a family intervention from relatives in Boston, MA it was decided she would move to Boston's Dorchester Section in 1993. A big change for the family but a change that would better their lives forever. As J adjusted to this new city there were many struggles of acceptance from her peers as she attended Boston Public Schools. Often a loner, J excelled in academics and worked on her hidden talents as a singer and writer in her bedroom.Her bedroom was her stage and friend. It is there she performed with the radio and the hairbrush singing along with greats like Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill and many more. It is in her bedroom she was able to be a star and forget about the daily struggles of her adolescent life, it is there J.Simone was morphing into something exceptional. Fast forward to year 2000, J.Simone was introduced to Actua records by child hood Friend Auxiliary, then an upcoming rapper on the Independent Record Label. He told her about an audition being held by the Label for an R&B and Hip Hop Showcase. There were two criteria that had to be fulfilled in order to qualify, 1) must write 1 original song, 2). Must Audition in front of label. J was excited and nervous simultaneously but felt this was her opportunity to show the world what she had. J Attended the audition and Met with the entire Acuta Records Family which included, Jug & Cube of Tru Indeed Records, Storm Session, Frenchie &Irvin of MIC (mass industry committee).On this winter night in Grove Hall at then Shockwave communications J was put in the hot seat. J performed accapella to Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" after a 3 minute intense audition the room roared with excitement and shock from the primarily male audience. Immediately she was embraced and complimented on her audition and was given the green light to participate in the Upcoming "Spring Bling Showcase" held at Kay's Oasis. After a month of preparation and rehearsals, J.Simone was ready to perform. Still Nervous J took the stage with confidence with family and friends in the audience J Performed as if she were in her room and gave it her all. After a five minute performance J rocked the crowd and everything went smoove. From there J was asked to Join Acuta Records and was officially the 1st lady of the label also during this time Diogenes joined Acuta RecordsDuring these days of Acuta all members produced artistically and the label was becoming a household name with showcases every month, radio, TV & club appearances the Actua members were paving their way towards success. This is where J started hosting, as 1st lady she hosted all of the Acuta showcases and did well. After one successful show case at the middle east J became an MC and enjoyed it. Unfortunately after a couple years on the label J decided to part with the label to focus on her college studies at Pine Manor College.J was pretty certain she wanted to become a Psychiatrist, so she thought. After her psych 101 class was full, J had no choice to take up an elective to fulfill her credits for the year. On a whim she selected “Public Speaking”. Not sure if this class would workout, she attended the first session. This in fact was the session that changed her life. Her professor and mentor Robert Ozwareck was moved by her ability to capture her audience and not only persuade them but maintain their attention.After many successful speaking in-class exercises J was confident enough to declare her major in Broadcast Communication. Fast forward to 2006 and J. Simone is slowly becoming a household name and face in Boston on the Music & TV Circuit. Winner of local radio personality contest entitled “Hot boy/Hot girl” J landed the position as on-air personality back in ’01 with then “Hot 97.7”. Although the position was short lived this was the beginning of J. Simone’s career.From there she continued hosting hip hop & R&B showcases, J. Simone would then move to producing short-films and documentaries. In 2003, J. Simone landed an internship with BET in New York making her the first in the colleges’ history to land an internship with a major entertainment company. In the summer of ’03 J packed up and headed to work as an intern on “Midnight Love”& “106 & Park”, sitting and sometimes standing feet from celebrities J got her taste of the industry in living color. After working at BET for three months this experience solidified J’s passion and knew this was the career path for her.Returning home for her senior year in college J went on to Intern at WHDH Channel 7 News on “Urban Update” as an assistant producer alongside producer, Brian Clarke. J successfully impressed her peers, family, mentors and professors when she produced “Young Women & Domestic Violence” on Urban Update as a final project aired in November of 2003.J continues to conquer every goal she sets for herself educationally and career wise. Currently, J is one of the hosts for Boston’s new entertainment show, “617 Live” & Classic 1804 alongside Reggae artist, Kleva Kidd. J has successfully conducted interviews with Anchor Woman Liz Walker, the Funk Doctor himself, Redman, MC Supernatural, Raekwon the Chef, Raz B, Sizzla, and many Boston’s home grown artists such as Letia Larock, Makio, Tashawn King, Bre, NBS, Perfeckt & Chance and many moreJ currently is pursuing a career in entertainment reporting and meanwhile works as an Event Specialist with L.O.E.E & Exquisite Socialites, a freelance writer, interviewer and special events hostess and just recently a Boston Casting Member working on films and commercials in and out of Boston . With her down to earth personality, radiating smile and loving spirit Ms. Simone is roaring like the zodiac she is born under and pursuing all her goals and she’s taking Boston with her!
