WHAT IS NOS?
NOS is a blend of old school metal and a fusion of the best elements newer metal has to offer. Our goal is to create music which isn't repetitive or monotonous, like so many metal cd's out there where 8 of the 9 tracks sound the same. We take an individual approach to each song we craft. We want our music be aggressive and full of variable speeds and versatile musicianship, all the while maintaining complex but catchy melodic and rhythmic patterns. In other words we want to deliver ass kicking music to your speakers for your enjoyment. Please let us know if you like the stuff. Welcome one and all to the Nation of Sin!
-----------OUR STORY----------
NATION OF SIN : THE BEGINNING
Nation Of Sin was but a notion in the minds of its' two founding members, Max Georgiev and former Ammonia drummer, Teo Zamfir. Max and Teo first met while enrolled in the music program of Vanier College. Within a couple of days the two were inseparable. They talked a lot about their favourite bands, Metallica (Max) and Iron Maiden (Teo), and how they wanted to be in a band with great musicians and make some kick ass music. They soon realized that there musical tastes and ideas were similar so they set up a jam session to see what they could come up with. After the initial jams, Max and Teo knew that there was something bigger on the horizon for them because everything just seemed to flow as if they had been doing this for some time. All they needed now were other musicians.......
LIFE AT VANIER:
Max and Teo discovered that there were many decent musicians at Vanier. That said, like any other school, the place was also full of cliques, idle gossip, noise and endless musical competition amongst musicians about "who did this" or "who can do that better". Amongst all this energy and confusion, Max and Teo quickly realized that metal wasn't a particularly popular or even welcome genre of music in the school. For the most part, the idea of being involved a rock or metal band was virtually unheard of. Teo and Max knew that they would be pretty much on their own in their pursuit of finding potential band mates.
A NEW FACE:
Soon after meeting Teo, Max met and eventually befriended fellow music student and former keyboardist for Zealous Apathy, Nathan Pereira. Nathan was well known around school for his eternal optimism and positive and charismatic demeanor. Max and Nathan eventually got together, sat down and shared musical ideas. It was then that Max saw in Nathan great musical skill, and a very strong foundation of musical theory and perhaps the newest member for the band.....
AN OLD FRIEND:
Teo had been great friends with former One Final Moment drummer, Keegan Birrell, since their early teens. Keegan's constant enthusiasm for doing something musically challenging could fill any room he was in with endless possibilities. Although he began his musical career as a drummer, Keegan's true passion had always been for the bass guitar. Keegan soon found himself inspired by Iron Maiden bassist, Steve Harris, and ultimately decided to pick up the bass himself. Keegan's transition from drummer to bass was effortless and natural. Teo got news of Keegan's rapidly growing skills on the bass and then there were four.
THE FIRST LINE-UP:
Max, Teo, Nathan and Keegan all met up at Teo's house, and after hearing each other play, knew that this band was what they wanted to do, and thus NOS came to be
THE FIRST SHOW:
The first NOS show ever was the Guitar Hero final at Club Soda on the 20th of June, 2006. What NOS has been doing for a year and a half is carefully crafting a sound that is uniquely our own, full of vibrant and youthful energy. Our music ha reflected our vision for the band ever since we began creating it
NOW:
NOS has found their lead vocalist and his name is Darren Scary. Darren brings great vocal ability, experience and a positive attitude to the table. The wait was long but now it's full steam ahead
FOR THE FUTURE:
Expect to see Nation Of Sin at the top because we won't stop until we're there.
