In Nicaragua... Moving to San Sebastian de YalÃ, Jinotega, Nicaragua on April 1st. Firstly, I will be working in the casa materna (the birthing homes) where I will assist in education (prenatal care, high risk pregnancies, family planning, insitutional births, etc) and the promotion of the casa materna in the rural regions of YalÃ. Secondly, I will am expected to become familiar and work with PROCOSAN, the national community nutrition program, assisting in the weighing and monitoring of infant growth in the rural areas of the municipality, registering this infomration and providing nutritional counseling to families, household health education and counseling for infants who show insufficient growth. assist with the planning of nutrition workshops with mother and children under 2 years of age. Thirdly, I am expected to strengthen and from community water communities in the PCI program called "Comities de Agua Potable" (Committees of Potable Water).
