I am here for Friends

About Me

I prefer simplicity, honor, truth, happiness, laughter, and family over drama. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, trying new things and making the most out of every situation that life brings to me. (both good and bad) I enjoy spending time in good company but I also enjoy quiet, personal time. My time in Iraq taught me much about what is truly important in life. I live my life knowing that every day here could be my last. My love and appreciation for everything that the world has to offer grows for every day that I am alive. Currently working on my first album of Celtic Instrumental Guitar.

My Interests

The fine arts, poetry, writing, biking, journaling, composition, singing, playing the guitar/cello, giving guitar lessons, playing/hosting gigs, gourmet cooking, hiking, running, traveling, the occasional night out on the town, watching the sunset, stargazing, Scotland/the UK, anything celtic, Autumn, coffee shops, chess, reading, philosophy, meeting people of character, conversations that last all night, going to see live music and laughter.

I'd like to meet:

A fellow nerd and general goofball. Anyone who can just be honest with themselves and others. The rest falls into place by itself. Still, if you enjoy curling up with a good book or a movie (with some hot chocolate) on a cold or rainy day, that helps too. : )

Music:

Alternative, classical, jazz, blues, Tony Bennet, instrumental cello, celtic/pipes/strings and guitar. A lot of people say that they listen to "everything" but I have to be really honest when I say that I have an aversion towards most kinds of rap, hip-hop or deathmetal. There are exceptions and I don't judge people for what they listen to, it's just a matter of personal preference. I keep an open mind but I don't listen to hate-oriented music. That being said, some music just plain stinks.

Movies:

American Beauty, Closer, In Good Company, Man of the Year, Love Actually, If Only, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Shakespeare in Love, Catch Me if You Can, Amelie, Braveheart, What Women Want, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Matchstick Men, O Brother Where Art Thou, Run Lola Run, James Bond films.. I like a lot of different movies but I love the live theater/opera/concerts too. : )

Television:

I really don't watch very much television but there are some rare occasions when I just like to veg out. CSI, The Family Guy, The Simpsons, Scrubs, Iron Chef, Law & Order, anything that's funny or makes you think.

Books:

Atlas Shrugged, The Good Earth, Brave New World, The Fountainhead, A Farewell to Arms, The Poetry of John Donne, Shakespeare, W;t, E.A. Poe, (Short Stories) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter, anything by Stephen Lawhead or Conn Igulden, certain kinds of Science Fiction but mostly classic and modern literature...(There are too many to count, I love to read!)

Heroes:

My fellow soldiers and veterans. The unsung heroes both past and present. Single mothers who face the world without support yet still strive for a better future. My cat Frank.
