Growing up in church, his exposure to music ranged from gospel to jazz. Music became his first love. His journey into hip-hop started in 1984, as a youngster entering local talent shows and performing in school plays. At that time, hip-hop became a hobby.Michael’s interest in the music business became more serious in 1994 after booking studio time and producing a four-song demo. In 1996, Michael released his first recording, entitled Northern Exposure, on Boyd Records label under the stage name Mr. Nastee. In a passionate drive to become a better artist and performer, Michael began rebuilding his image by collaborating with local artists and improving his delivery, his lyrical content and knowledge of the music industry. With these improvements, he also changed his stage name to The Black Dean Martin, as he was now more mature and comfortable with his talent and abilities.In 2001, Michael’s new image paid off, as he was recruited by Interscope artist Alley Life as an onstage hype man, opening for artists including Ludacris, Eminem, D-12, Run DMC, and Ja Rule. In addition, he accompanied Alley Life on a thirteen-stop college tour, featuring Nelly and The St. Lunatics. At openings with Alley Life included The House of Blues in Disney Land and Myrtle Beach, and Hugh Heffner’s Anniversary Issue party in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Café.Michael feels that as a solo artist, he brings a diverse style to hip-hop.-A tale of urban struggle that reaches the soul like Marvin Gaye, but with the rugged edge that all of the hip-hop greats possess.In 2006 Michael and a his producer started there own record label entitled Track Deala Music.
