About Me

Living in the middle of Sydney, and at that age where it's time to make a home, career, and family for myself. I work for the government helping people out of work, which - while I'm no bleeding heart - is much better karma than some of my previous jobs. Spent four years in Tokyo teaching English. Would love to travel more but has thus evaded me. Love animals and the natural world, and am a big nerd - I love all the sci-fi and roleplaying game stuff, and I'm a huge trivia buff.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

All shacked up now, so would also like to meet scientists or researchers from anywhere! They seem to be the only people these days with something to say.

My Blog

Limits

Another very draining day at work. I know that I only see the negative side of Australian society - the jobless, the disabled, the homeless, etc, etc - but it does seem to be getting steadily worse. I...

"Out On The Wiley, Windy Moors..."

Spent a lovely weekend at my mother's house in the seaside town of Wollongong, south of Sydney.     It was quite cold. It was such a nice sensation to feel cold again. It was been Sydne...

Punctuated Equilibria

A work day that was draining but oddly satisfying. Helping the less fortunate (not much less fortunate, and often times, considerably more fortunate than myself) can be rewarding. Not in any Christian...

Quantum Training

My employer sent me on a mandatory training course today, so that my colleagues and I could learn better customer service.    Now where to even begin? First thing, the trainer was very ...

Sympathy For Sisyphus

Another busy day at work. Very busy. Had one very spunky customer. He had lived in Sri Lanka for sometime, and had the most enthralling accent, but it was his eyes. Pierced right through me, as vacant...

Gene Relay

Following a surprisingly painless day at work, came home, did yoga, and then settled in to watch my two favourite dramas at the moment: Desperate Housewives and Commander In Chief. The problem with sh...

History

Woke from a deep sleep to a day of possibilities; as usual, I largely squandered it.     Went to the Greek Festival held at Sydney's Darling Harbour in order to meet a possible new frie...

Stealing Beauty

Just had an early evening visit from a young guy, about 20, and he was like a Botticelli angel. Very beautiful. Looked like someone out of a Gus Vant Sant film. (I mentioned this latter point to him, ...

Even Animals Learn To Stop What's Bad For Them

Whilst tipsy last night, I messaged a guy I'd met once before, and after some hemming and hawing, I left for his place.    It was very nice. He's a gentleman and gentle, is cute, and to...

City to the Mountains to the City

Woke from the aforementioned fitful sleep this morning not quite knowing what to do, when my good friend Ren appeared online and we decided a trip to the Blue Mountains just outside of Sydney was in o...
