i grew up in arlington virginia, a suburb of washington d.c., the third of four children. both of my parents were musical; my mom played piano & organ, my dad sang and called square dances. they exposed me to all types of music, the radio played each & every morning! i loved music from an early age, falling in love with the guitar after seeing elvis presley (i think) on tv when i was four or five years old. starting in elementary school, jr. high and throughout high school i played in bands that performed at private parties, school dances and variety shows. after bailing out of a college business administration major at a local community school, i began working full time as a musician playing in several cover bands in the d.c. & baltimore area. i wasn’t getting rich but i worked all the time, had a lot of fun and always enjoyed playing the guitar. in time this local scene became more & more unfulfilling and i found myself wanting to do more with music. after my marriage ended i decided that it was time to move to los angeles california, a long time dream of mine, and there i attended the dick grove school of music. i began meeting and working with a lot of talented musicians, songwriters & producers as i was studying to be a better musician. with the mindset to take any & all gigs, regardless of whether or not i was getting paid, i not only improved my playing but made valuable connections that i have to this day. i still try to improve myself as a player, writer, & producer, and hope to continue playing the guitar for many, many years. now with my own studio "the wire", where i do most of my session work, i'm able to collaborate with songwriters and produce new artists... corky
