DJ Serge Duchesne
About Me
DJ SERGE DUCHESNEHow can one describe Serge Duchesne? Celeda’s classic phrase to party-goers played randomly in nightclubs and parties around the world does it best: let Me Take You on A Trip.
It’s the only way not to mistake Serge Duchesne’s unforgettable sets on countless dance floors where he skilfully takes us on a journey full of percussive house sounds with a deep underground undercurrent. When the sounds, licks and rhythm of his infernal take on house music transcend our very being and reach the uttermost cells of our music craving minds, it is hard to say good bye to one of Serge’s truly magical nights. That’s how his music communicates to a crowd. It’s his way of telling a story.
His journey is a veritable story of its own. He got his start in the 80’s on the turntables of Montreal’s Key Club where his musical diversity was first experimented through alternative, industrial, electronic and house music. And as his story unfolded, his punch got better and better. In fact, his musical depth and style all his own tagged him in the bar scene as a DJ of the future.
Toward the beginning of the 90’s there was a twist to his journey: Lighting. He spent 5 years illustrating music through lights and color. Then he returned to his first love in around 1995 at Le Royal as…you guessed it; as DJ. Now just off his newly experience as a lighting designer, DJ Serge Duchesne understands the importance of communion between lighting and music and is a magician at creating one of the most intimate musical ambiances with complicity from lighting designers he works with from dusk until dawn. Sounds reveal emotions which are manifested through bodily movements and transformed into color corresponding to different chakras allowing each and every person to behold a visual oasis.
In 1996, he became a resident DJ at Sky Club and perfected his style in house music. In 1999, he was resident DJ every Sunday at Unity Club and went on the Sushi Nights on Thursdays, as well as performing live sets at the after-hours club Otter limits on Sundays. Since 1997, he has participated in many large-scale events such as the Bad Boy Club de Montreal’s Black & Blue festival, Divers Cité (Pride Ball at Aria), Le Bal en Blanc, has been a regular guest in Vancouver & Toronto’s after-hours scene and at the Montreal’s famous Stereo.
Resident since 4 years at PARKING NIGHTCLUB for his TRAFFIC friday nights! The Best club in town!!
A lot of new stuff will see the day very soon. He’s also a buyer for records shop (BPM Music and now Da Muzz Records) since 1999. As you can see music is his life because life is music.Don’t miss the opportunity to hear a skilfully orchestrated set by this magician of a DJ, Serge Duchesne. A mind, body and soul experience.
