About Me

My Interests

Music - it's always been there, it always will be, play guitar a bit, go to gigs as often as possible, film & theatre, (modern) art, reading, football (playing and watching) cricket, surfing, poker, trival pursuit, yahtzee(!) connect 4(!!) and err, drinking I suppose.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Hmmm, where to start... all GOOD music has it's place, but CD's that rarely get back to the rack include: Rock/Indie/Guitar stuff...... Stone Roses/Ian brown(genius), Kings of Leon, Bloc Party. The Clash, Pixies, Pearl Jam. Led Zep, Jimi, Radiohead/Thom Yorke, The Rolling Stones, The Black Keys, The Doors, The Who, Bob Marley, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Blur, (fuck oasis) Primal Scream. Neil Young, Bowie, The Beatles, The Kinks, MARNER BROWN (FUCK YEAH!!). The Charlatans (my first gig). Ray Lamontagne. Jose Gonzalez. Older Jack Johnson, Joy Division, Mercury Rev, The Arcade Fire, The Cure, The Stranglers. The Strokes, Turin Breaks, I Am Kloot, Kasabian, The Killers, Beck, Ben Harper, Happy Mondays. The Smiths, The Libertines.....Electronic Music.... Orbital. Aphex Twin, The Orb. Lemon Jelly, Leftfield, Chemical Brothers. Prodigy. Underworld, Daft Punk, Air, Zero 7, Mylo, Hot Chip. Mogwai. Dirty Vegas, Salt tank, Dreadzone. Audiobulleys. Sigor Ross, Unkle, The Future Sound of London, Kinobe. BT, The Crystal Method, 808 State. Then you’ve got the ‘Classics’: The Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Robert Johnson, BB King, Otis Reading, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, The Jackson’s, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simon, Ray Charles......And of course the humble D.J needs a mention: Sasha. Justin Robertson. Dave Clarke. Billy Nasty. Jacques le Cont. DJ Yoda. Annie Mac. James Lavelle, Giles Peterson, DJ Shadow….Then there’s always room for a bit of hip hop, Classical needs to be appreciated, 50’s Rock’n’roll, 70’s Americana Rock, The Madchester scene was quality and the Funk baby, you’ve gotta have the Funk... But then I'm always open to new musical experiences..

Movies:

Way too many to mention but would include: Withnail and I, Life of Brian, Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, This is Spinal Tap, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Godfather (I&II), The Shawshank Redemption, Rocky, Jaws, Team America, The Holy Grail, Memento, The Butterfly Effect, Point Break, Sideways, Amiele, Donnie Darko, Dogma, The Big Lebowski, Oh Brother Where Art Tho, Igby Goes Down, Trainspotting, Fight Club, Seven, Blade Runner, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Heat, Manhunter, The Shinning, One flew over the Cuckcoo's Nest, The Boys from Brazil, The Motorcycle Diaries, City of God, La Haine, Apocolypse Now, The Exorcist, Dazed and Confused, Almost Famous, Coming to America, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Time Bandits, Twelve Monkeys, The Dark Crystal, Enter the Dragon, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk, Old Boy, Akira, Spirited Away..... the list goes on and on, but hey, I am yet to see them all ............ Documentary’s: Riding Giants, Anything David Attenborough has done - the man’s a legend, Nick Broomfield, Michael Moore...

Television:

Don't watch much on T.V that's not movies, sports or music but; Planet Earth, The Simpson’s, South Park and Eastenders are all entertaining and stand-up comedy always goes down well. Although recently, possibly attributed to external influences, Deal or No Deal (or as my 5 year old nephew says: Yes Deal or No Deal) has become essential viewing. Speaking of which, I think it's on now....

Books:

Again, way too many to get into, but here's a few:.... 1984 – George Orwell. (The best book ever written?), American Psycho – Bret Eason Ellis, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – Hunter S Thompson, The Dice Man - Luke Rhineheart, The Boys From Brazil – Ira Levin, Cosmic Banditos – A.C Weisbecker, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams.... Recently been getting into a bit of Noam Chomsky, interesting. Roger Melly's Profanisaurus is always worth a dip in too. And of course, who could forget the holy grail of non-fiction (no, not that) The Guinness Book of World Records - priceless.

Heroes:

Banksy, Bill Hicks, Les Paul, Laird Hamilton, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Leonardo Da Vinci, Bodhidharma, Ian Brown, Bobby Moore, Salvador Dali, John Williams, Richard Prior, Howard Marks, Wayne Sleep(?!)
