Like any other canadian boy, he traded shoes for skates for a ten year span making him play competitively around Quebec and parts of Ontario. Then, in 1991 after a season of bad games and guys wanting to fight more than play the game, his second love appeared and he hasn't looked back since; MUSIC! ************************************************************ **** THE START Drums would be the choice instrument after seing a few of the big name rock bands of the time come over in his hometown of Ottawa. Self taught at the start it wasn't long that Denis was taking over the drummer's stool in the area's local bands. In fact one band had players in there starting 20's when he was only 15. Many shows, demos, and various bands passes throught for the rest of high school and once finished decided to study privately with Peter Beaudoin (Humber College). ************************************************************ **** THE FORMATIVE YEARS ******************************************** 1997 came along and auditions for both Drummondville and Carleton University where both succesful. The choice came for Carleton and he studied under Chris McCann (Johnny Fay from The Hip, McGill). Wanting to have a broader versatility, he then studied with nationaly respected teacher and author Chuck Borrows. "Chuck seriously kicked my ass and view on the instrument. And I am grateful" Says Denis. ************************************************************ **** THE TOURING YEARS* Tired of not being able to perfrom to his liking, he joined in 2001 the world renowned percussion group BAM. And for the next 4 years would tour 12 coutries, win prizes (cultural and public), play for the half time show of the TORONTO RAPTORS GAME, Record a television show with the Cirque DU Soleil and all in front of thousand of people throughout the world. 2002 in itself had approx 100 shows!! NOT BAD ************************************************************ ** NOW *********************************************************** He is currently living in Montreal sharing his time teaching privatly and @ at a school in MTL, playing with local professional artists, recording various projects and still tours with BAM. Unless the game gets sour he will play and enjoy it for a very long time to come.
