THE ISLAND KID
The young and aspiring Dancehall/Reggae artist D.Humphreys known as Mega D born was February 25th, 1981, on the beautiful Caribbean Island of St. Maarten.
Mega is an ambitious artist when it comes to music and carries that raw dancehall influence along with his energetic stage appearance, that can be compared to Bounty Killer, Elephant Man and many more..
Mega D grew up on the small island of St Eustatius,where he was surrounded by a musically inclined family, whose influence made a positive impact on his life, as a matter a fact; you can say it served as a foundation for his musical career.
Raised in a Christian home and going to church every Saturday wasn’t easy, knowing that his mom was not too fond of his musical choice. Being determined about his musical career, Mega D would practice at the band house of the well known Reggae/Dancehall artist Strawl,
who inspired him not only as an artist, but also as an entertainer.
In 2001, he left for The Netherlands where he made his home base, and began to take more interest in music. Spotted by his former record label "Rock (n) Vibes, he released his first compilation album that began a buzz down in the islands
The big success for Mega D began in 2003, when he was the opening act for the sold out concert of Sean Paul in the Netherlands. He released his first featured single and video together with R&B Hip Hop group "Vigilante". The single " “Sometimes†made the Dutch top ten charts, thus shining the spotlight on him and opening many doors and opportunities.
In 2004, Mega D teamed up with one of Europe’s most popular groups called RMXCRW (pronounce remix crew) where he got his first major deal signing with Universal Music. Also, in 2004 and 2005 he worked and recorded together with platinum selling artist DMX, Red Rat, Mr. Vegas, DJ Kool and many others...
He have shared the stage together with other international artist such as, Akon, Capleton, T.O.K, Sean Kingston, Wayne Wonder, Mr. Vegas, Sean Paul and many others, and have toured throughout the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and many other parts of the world.
Right now Mega D is working on his solo career and is currently networking himself world wide in the bigger markets.
