Cherrycola

Cherrycola were formed around mid May 2004 in the city of Medan. It all started from an idea by Didit and Ano who happened to be old friends and planned on making a band playing Cheerful Pop. Not stopping with the pair of them, they then added Andri (Ucup) and Arief to join the band - who at the time - remained nameless.

After searching for some time, they eventually met Dinda, who duly joined the band as vocalist. And after going through name choices, they settled on the name Cherrycola, chosen by Dinda and met by approval by the other members.

Along the way, Ano chose to leave Cherrycola to pursue higher learning outside Medan. Since then, Cherrycola has been left with four members and an additional player ..boards.

In every performance, Cherrycola have always relied on their vocalist as the perennial front girl (since the band is fronted by a girl), and their Cheerful Pop music which is Cherrycola’s trademark image and sound.

Cherrycola then started making their own songs. Their first song was titled ‘Party’, which was met with enthusiastic response in local radio in Medan.

In the middle of 2005, Dinda had to leave Cherrycola to continue her studies. The void in the position of vocalist was filled by Ika. Ika was in time officially named as Cherrycola’s new vocalist.

In August 2005, Cherrycola released a mini album titled ‘Farewell… But Not The End’. This mini album was released as a parting sign with Dinda.

At 2006 Huria! Records released a compilation album that contained bands from Medan. ‘Party’ by Cherrycola was one of the songs included in the album, alongside songs by other Medan bands like Korine Conception, The Cangis, etc. In mid 2006, Cherrycola released a new single called “Tidur” and received a warm welcome from Medan local radio.

Around November 2006 Cherrycola recorded their first full length album. During that time, Ucup (their drummer) had to leave Medan for work. Until this day, Cherrycola consist of three musicians. The positions of drummer and keyboardist are filled in by additional players.

Cherrycola are currently under Huria! Records. Apart from Cherrycola, other bands under the label are Korine Conception and JW86. Until now, Cherrycola’s first album is still in the mastering phase and will be released soon.

Terbentuk sekitar pertengahan mei 2004 di kota Medan. Berawal dari ide Didit dan Ano yang merupakan teman lama dan ingin membuat band dengan musik Pop Ceria. Tidak cukup hanya berdua saja, lalu mereka mengajak Andri (Ucup) dan Arief untuk bergabung dengan band yang belum mempunyai nama ini. Setelah beberapa lam mencari dan mencari akhirnya mereka bertemu dengan Dinda yang langsung bergabung untuk menadi vokalis band ini. Setelah sedikit bingung mencari nama, Dinda langsung mengusulkan nama Cherrycola yang langsung disetujui oleh semua personil.

Setelah beberapa lama kemudian, Ano harus meninggalkan Cherrycola untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di luar kota. Sejak itu, Cherrycola hanya tinggal empat personil dan hanya menggunakan additional player untuk mengisi posisi Keyboard

Pada setiap performance nya Cherrycola selalu mengandalkan sang vokalis sebagai front girl ( berhubung vokalis band ini cewek) dan aransemen musik Pop Ceria yang merupakan ciri khas Cherrycola

Cherrycola mulai membuat lagu-lagu sendiri. Lagu pertama Cherrycola adalah ”Party” yang mendapatkan respond baik daari radio lokal di Medan

Pertengahan 2005 Dinda harus pergi meninggalkan Cherrycola untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya keluar kota. Kekosongan posisi ini langsung diisi oleh Ika. Ika resmi menjadi vokalis baru Cherrycola dan menjadi frontgirl di band ini

Pada Agustus 2005, Cherrycola mengeluarkan mini album yang berjudul Farewel..but not the end. Mini album ini dikeluarkan sekaligus sebagai tanda perpisahan dengan Dinda.

Pada awal 2006 Huria! Records mengeluarkan album kompilasi yang berisi band-band Medan. Lagu Cherrycola yang berjudul Party termasuk didalamnya bersama band-band lainnya seperti Korine Conception, The Cangis..dll. Kemudian pertengahan tahun 2006, Cherrycola mengeluarkan single yang berjudul “Tidur” dan kembali mendapatkan sambutan hangat di berbagai radio local Medan

Lalu, sekitar bulan November 2006 Cherrycola melakukan rekaman untuk album pertamanya. Pada saat itu pula sang drummer, Ucup harus keluar karena bekerja di luar Medan. Praktis sampai saat ini Cherrycola diperkuat hanya 3 personil. Posisi drummer dan keyboardist masih diisi oleh additional player.

Saat ini Cherrycola berada di bawah label Huria! Records. Selain Cherrycola juga mempunyai Korine Conception dan JW86. Sampai saat ini album pertama Cherrycola masih dalam proses penyelesaian dan segera akan dirilis.
