Create Your Badge ..Ahoy There!Skipper Jeff Here,Currently work as a Graphic Designer for a display and packaging company in the Los Angeles area. I have been a professional Graphic Artist for 29 years. As a graduate of the Burnley School of Professional art in Seattle, my career started there doing wall murals, sign painting and designing, T-Shirts. That kind of turned out to be a dead end city for me so I moved to LA in 1982. After a few years for working on local papers (LA Weekly, Pasadena Weekly), I got into Motion Picture advertising, everything from one sheet posters, billboards, logos, movie titles and ad campaigns. I have worked for just about every major movie studio in LA, directly or indirectly. I narrowed my design work to temporary and permanent point of purchase displays, such as theater lobby displays and corrugated displays for retailers.JUST CLICK ON A PHOTO AS IT SLIDES BY TO ENLARGE!Born Again Son of a Sailor. I had gained a lot of sailing experience from age 7 first on Northern California Lakes with my Fathers 16' open Tiburon. Then Dad moved right up to a 1966 Islander 33 flush deck sailboat (Lady Porpoise) when we moved to the Puget Sound. A big and not so pretty boat, but it was a practical for a family of seven to cruise the San Juan Islands in. I was single handing that sailing aircraft carrier by the time I was 15. As the five kids started moving out, Dad down sized to a Canadian made Bayfield 25 (Scrimshaw) in 1975. She was moored on Lake Washington with access to the Sound and beyond. The Bayfield became as much mine as my Fathers boat through the 70's & 80's and I enjoyed exploring the San Juan's and Vancouver Island. Then I did a dumb thing. I moved to California in 1982 and left my access to my Dads boat. It wasn't until 2000 that I finally bought a little 22' McGregor trailer sailor. I sailed out of Channel Islands harbor in Oxnard for a couple of years until I got my ass kicked it heavy conditions (Santa Anna Winds) sailing back from Santa Cruz Island in the Santa Barbara Channel in too small a boat. The Mcgregor and I survived but I then realized that Blue Water sailing off the So Cal coast was quite different than sailing the inland passages of Puget Sound. That's about when I decided to up grade to and restore my 1973 Ericson 27, the "Pride of Cucamonga".Now I live in San Pedro about 10 blocks from my marina. I sail just about every weekend year round. I have lost track of how many times I have sailed to Catalina Island with my E-27. On my McGregor I visited Anacapa I Santa Cruz Islands several times. My longest passage here in Southern California was when I purchased my Ericson 27 and brought it up the coast 100 miles from San Diego. My Father single handed his 25 footer to Alaska from Seattle and back when he retired and I crewed with him for a couple of weeks through the Tongas National Forest, talk about weather!Sailing at the moment is the most fulfilling part of my life right now,As a very famous Sailor once said, "I yam, what I yam".Visit The Cucamonga!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

"I've always wanted to sail to the south seas, but I can't afford it." What these men can't afford is not to go. They are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of security. And in the worship of security we fling our lives beneath the wheels of routine and before we know it our lives are gone. -Sterling Hayden.Fellow Sailors who dream big. No Fear, Sailors. Hopefully I will meet a Lady Sailor who shares this interest with me and be willing to sail to Catalina, Channel Islands and Mexico. I would also like to meet Sailors with more experience than I have, such as ones with ocean crossing and racing experience.Pirates of the Caribbean
