a|Fer started using his first production system at the tender age of 12. It was called MEd (on the Commodore Amiga) and started him off on his epic journey through time, space, skill and genre. The journey is, as yet, incomplete.
When his skills were of a high enough standard a|Fer took his hand to producing hardcore (alongside DJ ChubbStarr ), which led to the jungle and drum 'n' bass movement. His most prolific drum 'n' bass track, Good Vibes, was released during the summer of 1995 on Kemet Records' groundbreaking album, Champion Jungle Sound.
At the same time he was holding down a set on London's Eruption 101.3FM (again alongside DJ ChubbStarr ) which was a rising star within the drum ‘n’ bass scene, employing the likes of DJ Zinc amongst others.
When the jungle scene evolved a few years later, a|Fer chose to follow a different route which led him into the house scene, producing and playing vocal, deep and soulful house.
However during 1999 he was asked to produce a UK garage track alongside DJ ChubbStarr and MC Preshus. It was named Rinse Out (DAM Records) and was very successful.
During the next few years a|Fer continued to produce and play soulful house and then teamed up with The Maestro which led to the release of Vivid Description under the name Funkin’ YooF (Soulful Solutions - 2003).
2005 saw a|Fer briefly take his hand to the pirate radio scene again to play alongside DJ ChubbStarr on London’s Touch FM. He was playing a mix of vocal and deep house alongside old skool UK garage, but towards the end of that year his tastes changed towards the filthier side of things, which incorporated electro, electro-house, electro-clash and so on, which leads us to today.
He still produces alongside The Maestro (filth) as well as DJ ChubbStarr and DJ AB (deep, Latin- and Afro-House), with many releases planned for 2008, so watch this (my)space.
