Ron S.

I'm hot on the streets with my dangerous beats!

About Me

When Ron S. first discovered the pounding rhythms and ominous feel of industrial acts like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb in 1990, he was immediately hooked on electronic music. He began collecting records and Dj'ing house and acid house music at underground parties in St. Louis, Missouri in 1993. By 1995, he purchased his first drum machine and synthesizer and began producing original material, culminating with the rare "A Life of Destruction" 12". Ron’s turntable skills sharpened and were in demand from a series of underground mix tapes, leading to many DJ appearances around the midwest, performing alongside Frankie Bones, Terry Mullan, Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink and other future superstars. Ron's intricate DJ sets consisting of 3 turntable sets, double copy tricks, cutting and scratching landed him residencies at the St. Louis clubs Quazar, Monastary, and the Firehouse. With appearances at The Upstairs Lounge as part of the Solid Union DJ crew, they were voted St. Louis best club DJ's by the Riverfront Times in April, 1999. In 2000, the third Anode release dropped, a compilation including St. Louis underground dance artists. The "Fundamentals" records, released in 2001, incorporated a back to basics sound, aimed specifically at the techno DJ. After relocating to Denver, 2005 was a productive year for Ron and Anode records with the widely acclaimed "Front Range" release, and well received live PA performances in Colorado and his hometown of St. Louis. The "Mindshape E.P.", by globe traveling DJ Locutus, with a remix from label boss Ron S. also received international attention in 2006, as well as the various artists "End of Days E.P." In 2007, the “Rugged Land” release found its way into techno sets around the world. Ron S continues to rock dancefloors around the U.S. with his hardware based live PA's and vinyl DJ sets. The sounds from Ron S can be described as pure Techno, with hard driving rhythms not being subject to the latest trends and buzzwords. Ron S is based in Denver, Colorado and is available for live pa performances, vinyl DJ sets, sound design, music production, and custom electronics work.
