About Me

Anthony J.Quinn-enigma who rarely plays live. His past shrouded in secrecy but rumoured to be residing somewhere in the town of Widnes which sits on the bank of The River Mersey somewhere between Liverpool and Manchester. It is reputed to be where Paul Simon wrote "Homeward Bound" He is also said to be a misanthropist-this would seem to be true as there is a track on his second album "Old Hat's Return" entitled "The Misanthropist's Song" Does not like most contemporary mainstream music considering it be decadent and cacophonous. Does not like most aspects of the modern world politics, war, football-hence has retreated into his own monastry where he will read at times the poetry of Dylan Thomas amongst other poetry and listen to the songs of Virginia Haze and Andy Smythe amongst other artists on MySpace. All songs from "In A Foreign Part Of The Town" and "Old Hat's Return" can be listened to on www.napster.com. Both CDs can be purchased from www.cdbaby.com/all/anthonyjquinn and www.anthonyjquinn.com

Influences: Anthony J.Quinn's two albums to date "In A Foreign Part Of The Town" and "Old Hat's Return" are a must for those who like literate and articulate singer-songwriters.The influence of Bob Dylan,Bruce Springsteen,Elvis Costello and Leonard Cohen is very apparent.AJQ however will always argue that "simple" songs have their place.Indeed the Motown classics "Baby I Need Your Loving" by The Four Tops and "The Tracks Of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson are two of his all-time favourite songs.Another great favourite song is "Perfect" by Fairground Attraction.Eddi Reader is AJQ's all-ttime favourite female singer Nowadays listening to more minority artists who have not got the backing of major record companies but whose material beats a multitude of mega-selling mediocrities by a country mile. Check out on MySpace all friends
Sounds Like: James Blunt on first album "In A Foreign Part Of The Town" echoes of Nick Cave and Van Morrison on his second album "Old Hat's Return"-that's the opinion of a couple of music journalists anyway(see press reviews on www.anthonyjquinn.com)
Record Label: RIVER MERSEY MUSIC (OWN LABEL INFORMALLY)
