About Me

I am looking to join, or form, a solid outfit, highly aggressive, yet melodic. Also, I would love to do studio work in any genre of music. I come quite cheap, largely because I just love to play - period! I have studied with various teachers: Currenly corresponding with Alex Masi. In 1995 went off to college, and in 1998 earned a B.A. in History, In 2001 earned an M.A.T. in History, both from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. To a great extent I really like to learn in general, particularly as music and history are my chief interests. Speak German and some Italian as well. By the way, Naples and Amalfi in Italy I consider my spititual homes. Current Gear: Engl Powerball, Mesa-Boogie Dual Rectifier, 2 Brian Moore C-90F guitars, 2 ESP MII's and an early ESP Mirage. I run a simple rig largely because the overly processed sounds hide so much of the player, the wood of the guitar, and the quirks therein which make up one's style. This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5

My Interests

Music:

Influences: There have been tons of influences throughout the years, but here are a few constants: Alex Masi: In my book he is the best out there. He has had his sound for years, as well as as his own identifiable style.Greg Howe: He has been constantly expanding his chops , as well as his motifs. His note choice is excellent.Shawn Lane: 'The Master'! When he passed away the world lost a true talent. He was one of the few who deserves the moniker stated above. Highly, highly technically proficient, but he could make one note just sing.Frank Gambale: His knowledge is encyclopedic, and his chops are amazing.Yngwie Malmsteen: He's the guy who set it on fire in the early 80's. One of the most influential and copied guitarists for the past twenty years.Greg Fulton: His rythym playing is astounding. He was with Cyclone Temple in the late 80's and ealry 90's. Now he is in Rebels Without Applause. Great songwriter as well.Paul Gilbert: Another often copied player. His best stuff was with Racer X.Cacophony with Jason Becker and Marty Friedman: These guys set a tone back in the day, and they haven't been topped yet.Joey Tafolla: In my opinion he had one of the coolest Shrapnel Records releases ever. His newest work is phenomenal. Also his work with Jag Panzer is killer.Other Influences: Tony MacAlpine, David T. Chastain, Scott Henderson, Allan Holdsworth, Miles Davis, Igor Stravinsky, the Oakland Raiders, Skoal Longcut 'Berry Blend', Gen. George S. Patton, George Lynch, Todd Duane, Tracy G, Craig Goldy, Michael Romeo, Sevendust.Oh yea, and Evil Knievel. He had balls the size of Pumpkins!
Sounds Like: For what is going on, there are a lot of diverse influences at play. It is certainly metal, whether subcategorised as 'power', or 'progressive', and there are elements of neo-classical fusion and a very light touch of jazz-fusion. Frank Gambale, Paul Gilbert, Shawn Lane, Alex Masi, Michael Romeo, Jason Becker, Cacophony, Greg Howe, Racer X, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joey Tafolla, George Lynch, Craig Goldy, early Van Halen when they had balls. Hopefully, though, it sounds like me.
