Unlike many singers and musicians J-ivory had a late start at music. Ever since a child, he would listen to the sounds of singers like anita baker, celine dion, luther vandross, mariah carey, toni braxton, etc. as his sister would play these records and more at home. He would always sing to the songs but very quietly to himself or in the shower. He was never really encouraged, and very shy. Not until high school after enrolling in a christian shool he gained a love for gospel music and the musicianship in the school and church. After singing in a holy Ghost revival in 2002, where the christian school from Kindegarten to seniors, were speaking in tongues and consumed with the spirit during school, he decided singing was his destiny. After graduating high school, one of his best friends bought him a keyboard for his birthday. At that point, determined J-ivory taught himself theory and the piano in everyway he could. About six months after playing he began to play for his church, upper room where he became the minister of music for the youth ministry. J-ivory knew the anointing and gifting on his life and wanted to go beyond the four walls of the church and bring his gift of song to the world. It was then in 2005 he encountered an experience called open mic at the sugar bar, where he met nick and valerie simpson. With the encouragemet of nick and val, J-ivory has been able to tone his instrumental and vocal skills. since then he has has the opportunity of sharing the stage with valerie simpson, gordon chambers, john clark terrell, twinkie clark, michael mcdonald, wallace gary, nate jones, danny kean, nathaniel nunziante and some other artists. Now on a mission J-ivory, plans to conquer the music field in everyway he can. Jordan primarily and first of all considers himself a singer, and knows his voice can heal. However,currently he is teaching himself the guitar,talkbox, and th drums and will not stop. Thursday J-ivory will be doing his thing with the band dominant soul at sajuma lounge may 22 at 9:00 with the legendary DJ"the finisher" Mr. Cee. come out the mic will open as well till 12:00 for anyone that wants to spit some verses, show off your pipes or just jam. br /
