..With a blend of reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and rap music 23 year old Snypah, born Junior Ricketts, from St. Catherines (Central Village), Jamaica, rocks this new innovative style of music he calls Reggae Fusion. This talented singer and music enthusiast who resides in Brooklyn (Brownsville), NY says that his passion for entertaining is so deep, I can feel it deep down in my soul, he explained.
Snypah, who has been singing reggae music since his youth, prides himself
with creating his unique style of reggae music, which he hopes to constantly
enhance. He says that dispute his admiration for reggae extraordinaires such as
Barrington Levy, Dennis Brown and Beenie Man, he has chosen to not pattern
their musical style since he hopes to one day have his music recognized in a class
of its own. Every artist is trying to be like someone else. No one wants to
be themselves, says Snypah, who dares to be different from the rest, and
believes that it is important to establish and maintain ones originality in the
music industry.
Snypah, whose name derived from his very accurate and on point reggae lyrics,
has performed locally in New York at venues such as Club SOB, Lions Den, The
Club Rock (formerly Club Large) and Roy Wilkins Park to name a few. This
former student of Prospect Heights High School, in Brooklyn, NY, says that he has
always wanted to become an entertainer. And, even though he performs
strictly reggae music, he acknowledges that his initial performances back in the days
were that of songs by Michael Jackson.
Like most recording artist, Snypah hopes to conquer the world with his new
age style reggae music. I want the world to know who I am, he says, I want
to be really big in music. This easygoing reggae artist also hopes to one day
get the opportunity to work with recording artist like, Fifty Cent, Beenie
Man and Eminem, and says that he wishes he had the opportunity to work with late
rap music pioneer, The Notorious B.I.G.
Snypah who enjoys playing basketball and soccer in his spare time is
currently in studio working on various Reggae Fusion tracks.
