ABOUT THE FARM
“The Farm” was started by Producer Brian O’Shea in 1997 soon after he produced the ground-breaking debut album by QCumba Zoo, which saw the band signed to Clive Davis’ Arista Records and climb to the top of the US Billboard Top 100 dance charts with their hit ”The Child Inside”.
Since then, the creme of the crop of the South African stars have had SAMA winning and nominated albums produced by Brian O’Shea and co-producers Paul Mc Iver and Crighton Goodwill, including Sugardrive, Arno Carstens, Saron Gas (now Seether in the U.S.), Mean Mr Mustard, Amersham, Watershed, Semisane, Just Jinjer, Heinz Winckler, Anke, Fahrenheit, Ezra, Jacques Terreblanche, Lonehill Estate, NKD, Loyiso, Cofield Mundi and the list goes on…
Paul Mc Iver has been producing with Brian at The Farm since 2000 and is a former Watershed guitarist (2001 - 2003) and current Fahrenheit Bassist.
Crighton Goodwill is classically trained musician and former Granny Smith keyboardist.
The Farm’s track record is unrivalled when it comes to international signings, with QCumba Zoo, Saron Gas (Seether), Watershed, Semisane and Candice all going on to secure international deals with albums bearing The Farm’s touch of magic.
The Farm is situated in Bryanston, Jhb, and consists of 2 studios, one with a hybrid Logic/Pro-Tools TDM system geared towards rock and pop production (run by Paul Mc Iver), and the other a G5 Logic Pro7 system geared towards cutting edge pop/R’nB/dance etc (Crighton Goodwill).
The studio caters for the full spectrum of professional audio services, including:
· Recording and Production
· Mixing
· Mastering
· 5.1 Surround Mixing
· Radio and TV Sound Design
Clients include SonyBMG, EMI, Sheer Music, Select Music, Fresh Music, Sovereign and Musketeer Records who trust The Farm with their big-budget recordings as well as private individuals and bands who need top quality production on a tight budget.
The Farm has a reputation for giving every project it’s full attention until the project is complete and crafting each song until it has the magic it needs, not counting the hours until the recording budget is finished. We generally charge per project, not per day or per hour… our priority is making sure every project rocks, not simply charging per day and rushing through the project to stay within the budget, as so many studios do!
