Songs of Marlene Dietrich as sung by Svetlana Nalepkova with 20 famous songs of the legendary Hollywood star Marlene Dietrich and a story about her life and lovers.Accompanied by: Blue Angel Memory Band.Svetlana Nalepkova is a well-known Czech singer and actress with a special gift for musical comedy and swing era singing. In her one woman show Marlene which is highly regarded for rich musical feeling and delicate theatrical form, Svetlana Nalepkova presents twenty famous songs that Marlene Dietrich sangin her Hollywood films and stage shows and on her wartime records. The songs are in English, German and French and narration is in English. Svetlana Nalepkova appears in five different costumes made after those Marlene wore. Accompanied by a six member orchestra, Svetlana Nalepkova unfolds her musical talent changing costumes and illumination alike. She offers the audience a lively but relaxing comic experience full of beautiful songs and entrancing rhythm. Accompanied by the Jan Matousek Prague Swing Orchestra she gives a concert of well-known songs such as The Dark Blue Umbrella, Your White Scarf, A Girl Who Was Born in Rhythm, My Umbrella and I, The Blue and life is But Coincidence. Edith Piaf was lucky to work with excellent composers and lyricists and her songs are a unique experience even today. At the beginning of the new century when life is so different from that in Edith’s times, singer and actress Svetlana Nalepkova returns to the songs which have survived all modern musical streams and become classic. Like in the successful recital telling a story of Marlene Dietrich, she restages them in new intimate arrangements by pianist and composer Jiri Toufar and with new lyrics by Jiri Dedecek.Svetlana NalepkovaSvetlana Nalepkova was born on Juli 2, 1960 in Prague where she also studied at the Music and Theatre Conservatoire. She was a guest actress at the Ypsilon Theatre in 1980-1987 and the Music Theatre in Karlin in 1993-1997. Between 1979 and 1989 she was a member of the M. Nesvadba’s mime group Mimtrio. Her successful one-woman shows include Cinderella on the Trampoline (1986), this Manhattan and Other Side Symptoms (1990), Marlene-Songs of Marlene Dietrich as sung by Svetlana Nalepkova (1995) and Love is a Fata Morgana (1997). Her major theatre parts include Josephine in the musical My Fair Josephine and Vivian in the music show The Snowy Romance. She also appeared in the musical The Nuns and at present she features in the musical shows The Snow Queen and Substitution or Dance Among the Eggs at the Theatre U Hasicu in Prague. As a singer, she has fallen in love with the songs from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. She recorded the CDs Marlene, Love is a Fata Morgana, I am a Girl who was born in Rhythm and Edith.
